2012 CBA/Lockout talk Part VIII..IT'S OVER!!!!!!

The LF is far from offensive IMO. I always thought it was a compliment;).

I don't plan on partaking in any protests, any hunger strikes, or passing in any fan cards. I'll just be happy to have hockey back so I can enjoy watching the game I love. The Bruins don't know I exist...and no matter what, as long as the team is successful, they don't care if I go to the game because if I dont...someone else will and my personal protest will only hurt myself.

Life's too short.

Nope it wasn't around back then. Twitter is both a blessing and a curse for stuff like this. On one hand you have people like LeBrun, MacKenzie, etc., posting real time updates which is great. But you also have random people who make stuff up, but it trends and becomes "fact" because people are too stupid to realize it's fake.

I think the 'random people' is the thing that has been frosting me. I simply don't know who they are and if they are who they say they and to trust them.
In the olden days here at HF we had to vet all sources to allow a post to stay. I honestly don't think it possible anymore. That's no shot at HF. Nobody appreciates this site more than me. I'm glad I retired. I pity the Mods and Admins that must try to keep up with this.

Well, like the total gullible fool I must be, I am once again going to stalk the news today because it sounds like there are positive signs and perhaps something is at hand. As others are saying, this mediator needs to turn in his cash and credit cards because he should never have to pay for something again if there's a hockey owner or player or fans around.

I am sucked back in. If we don't have hockey this year, I will be totally crushed. After watching the Bruins 2011 Championship DVD, numerous Lucic fights on hockeyfights.com and todays absolutely heart warming WJC finals, I need it... I want it.

Same here.

Dafoomie has saved my life during this lockout. I've probably contributed to over 1,000 views in the last few months

The problem is, I've watched every damn highlight he has multiple times and it's getting so bad that I can pretty much say word for word what Jack Edwards is going to say before he says it.

Time for some new highlight material.

Though we could make a case that Bettman is Zoot..no?

Bettman would be like the Guardian or even Luke

Fehr would be Mega

I tend to just stick with the people I know are reliable. If I see something that seems too good to be true from an unreliable source I don't put any weight in it until one of the big guns, like the aforementioned ones, picks it up. Obviously that rarely happens.

The National Hockey League and the Players' Association will meet face-to-face along with a mediator in hopes of trying to end the 112 day lockout. "Well, if it's as close as we're sensing it could be a very 'good day' according to source," tweeted TSN's Darren Dreger.

Fingers crossed!

Looks like the so called Pension Experts that were brought in have done their job.

1 down 2 to go

As per @JSportsnet major issue agreed too. Pension plan has been resolved

OOG, I gotta say it's nice having you around here keeping us informed. Not just on CBA/Lockout stuff, but in general. Thank you.

Today is shaping up to potentially be great. Get it done NHL/NHLPA.

We are indeed lucky to have Dom on this board.

As someone else posted Dafoomie is nice to have around as well.

I dont think you will get an announcement today. Don't believe there is any chance NHL or PA makes an announcement on the day that belongs to Team USA.

Sure here's a small list for you:

-Pay everything by credit card including tickets. - does not affect players share of HRR and owners lose 1.5% off the top - 4% if you use American Express.

-Don't go to AHL affiliated games where they have the same owner.

-Boycott anything to do with ownership's other business ventures.

-Purchase tickets from any source not affiliated to the team.

-Boycott skills competitions and such things. Players do get a share of that but not 50%.

-Boycott corporate sponsors of the teams to send a message. League and teams already have their money and will not affect HRR. Sends a message to all involved.

-For non-hockey events in an arena, don't buy anything other than your tickets. Take public transit where teams own their own parking, avoid concessions, whatever.

There are plenty of ways to hurt the owners pocket book without affecting the players pocket book.

If truly that is the intention.
This is great information. You've really opened my eyes on this. I want to go to a game when this foolishness ends so damned badly, it hurts my stomach. I was going to go the boycotting games route, and you've saved me from that self-abuse.

I've been a Patriots STH for 15 years, but the Bruins are my obsession. I completely understand what all the Bruins STHs must be going through, as I was in the same boat recently, although the season was saved.

Interestingly, it was our team's owner who SOLVED the labor dispute, rather than cause it.

Not coincidentally, Bob Kraft is a local fellow who was a huge fan of the team and sport when he acquired the Pats and he had an emotional, as well as financial, investment in the labor dispute. He and I, as a Foxborough resident, haven't always seen eye-to-eye on a host of issues relating to his interests in town, but there is no person on earth I would rather have owning the team. That's entirely because he's from around here and he cares what his neighbors think of him.

JJ, not so much on any of the above.

Sadly, Delaware North also profits handsomely from another of my passions, America's National Park system, as they are the licensed concessionaire in many of the most-visited parks. If you're in any of the DNC-controlled parks, another way to stick it to the man is to not spend any money inside those parks. Bring your own firewood, food and drinks from outside and fill your gas tank before you get in the parks. Don't stay in a park hotel, either.

Other than getting back my Bruins, there's really nothing I want more than to hurt Jacobs financially.

And for Bettman to leave, ASAP.

There's no way a season is cancelled now, just a matter of time before they finish the remaining 2 issues

If they come this far and it falls apart, it will warrant the most epic facepalm ever conceived

That and the NFL playoffs start down here in about an hour.

Best day to get media attention would be Monday .

That's what I think as well Wally.

Major media should be making travel arrangements tomorrow for NYC.

Some (not sure who first broke the news) are also saying that league is willing to move off their $60 million cap for next year to $63 million.

As for a post I made earlier this morning still hear the NHLPA has indeed agreed to contract max lengths of 6 & 7 years but everyone else still reporting that it is un-resolved.
