Sure here's a small list for you:
-Pay everything by credit card including tickets. - does not affect players share of HRR and owners lose 1.5% off the top - 4% if you use American Express.
-Don't go to AHL affiliated games where they have the same owner.
-Boycott anything to do with ownership's other business ventures.
-Purchase tickets from any source not affiliated to the team.
-Boycott skills competitions and such things. Players do get a share of that but not 50%.
-Boycott corporate sponsors of the teams to send a message. League and teams already have their money and will not affect HRR. Sends a message to all involved.
-For non-hockey events in an arena, don't buy anything other than your tickets. Take public transit where teams own their own parking, avoid concessions, whatever.
There are plenty of ways to hurt the owners pocket book without affecting the players pocket book.
If truly that is the intention.
This is great information. You've really opened my eyes on this. I want to go to a game when this foolishness ends so damned badly, it hurts my stomach. I was going to go the boycotting games route, and you've saved me from that self-abuse.
I've been a Patriots STH for 15 years, but the Bruins are my obsession. I completely understand what all the Bruins STHs must be going through, as I was in the same boat recently, although the season was saved.
Interestingly, it was our team's owner who SOLVED the labor dispute, rather than cause it.
Not coincidentally, Bob Kraft is a local fellow who was a huge fan of the team and sport when he acquired the Pats and he had an emotional, as well as financial, investment in the labor dispute. He and I, as a Foxborough resident, haven't always seen eye-to-eye on a host of issues relating to his interests in town, but there is no person on earth I would rather have owning the team. That's entirely because he's from around here and he cares what his neighbors think of him.
JJ, not so much on any of the above.
Sadly, Delaware North also profits handsomely from another of my passions, America's National Park system, as they are the licensed concessionaire in many of the most-visited parks. If you're in any of the DNC-controlled parks, another way to stick it to the man is to not spend any money inside those parks. Bring your own firewood, food and drinks from outside and fill your gas tank before you get in the parks. Don't stay in a park hotel, either.
Other than getting back my Bruins, there's really nothing I want more than to hurt Jacobs financially.
And for Bettman to leave, ASAP.
