For every NHL pass, a tree will be planted. Every NHL goal, a solar panel will be installed. Wait… what? Those proposals didn’t get in?!?

I'd buy out Seguin and re-sign him to an 8 year-$14M contract.
I'd buy out Chara and re-sign him for an 8 year-4.8M contract.

Just knocked about $10M per year off the cap payroll for the next 6 years.

If they don't allow that they should at least add the ability to restructure someone like Chara.

If they don't allow one of the above I think Marchand, Lucic, Boychuk and Peverley are possibilities. I'd actually try and trade Marchand to a team in the West. If contract values are going to end up going down as a result of the CBA, a $4.5M hit for a guy like Marchand may be quite a bit above market value. Lucic is in the same boat, IMO. I like both of them so it would be tough to move either one, but business decisions will have to be made for the long term health of the team. Plus it would be nice to have plenty of cap space when Patrick Kane becomes a FA in a couple of years; or maybe we should target him now ;)

Now the question is:what kind of playing shape are the Bruins players who did not go overseas?

If 2013-14's cap is the reported $64.3m, that is great news for the Bruins.

NHL should finalize a 48 or 50 game season schedule sometime mid-week.

I haven't seen the deal yet, but I presume that teams cannot buy out a player and then re-sign him. Does anyone know the answer to that one?

Great day. :handclap:

Teams that make good decisions, like the Bruins, kind of get the shaft here. Not only do they not have to buyout anyone, they won't have cap space to sign FA's and the market it going to have 30-40 guys or so who are already getting paid and won't be looking to break the bank.

Restructuring or buy outs resignings would be fair to the teams that have been responsible with their spending but I don't see it happening either. Just wishful thinking.

RE: Cap

Would they treat this as if 32-34 games have been played?

Also, I think someone (Dom?) mentioned that rookie bonuses are coming off in this CBA. So Seguin's 3.5 cap hit should be much lower. I presume the same with Hamilton (if he makes the roster).

And Chia, I presume, can put Savvy on LTIR.

And TTs contract can be moved to NYI, COL, etc.,

We're going to be okay.

Fantastic news guys. Couldn't be happier right now. However, this does leave a scar.

A 50 season game would be great thanks guys.

Can't wait too see what it's like too post here when there's actual hockey to be played rather than some meeting that gets pushed back 4 hours.
