Too early to panic with Skjei.

He is in line to have a big role next year. Then we'll be able to make a much better evaluation.

Same with Fogarty.

Rangers knew about the WCH with Fasth. Maybe they can pay Sweden to release him or is that not allowed?

Also, this is where Hedberg and maybe some other connections step in if it does become an issue. They can always send over Torts to beat up the IIHF guys

Can't this be taken up with the IIHF? Why would Fasth be obligated to play in the WC's? He's under contract with the Rangers, on LOAN to HV71. No one signed a contract with Sweden...

Fasth could always pull an El Duque and "magically show up on a boat" in NY

But before we get upset, nothing has happened yet, and no facts have been presented. This is something that Hedberg/Clark/Sather have known about so I believe it will be worked out.

Is this tournament even that prestigious anyways? I always kind of viewed it as the equivalent of winning the Championship in a Summer Hockey League.

Apparently the NHL did

The NHL has an agreement with Sweden which basically gives Sweden authority to block the transfer of anyone registered on their World Championship roster.

Anyone know how Hrivik is doing? He's been out for quite a while which hopefully doesn't disrupt his development. I'm pretty high on him

So we can dwell on bad moves but when somebody gives the organization credit we have to squash that right away, sounds fantastic.

Anyway, can't wait for him and Fasth to come to NA.

If every good move didn't come with three bad ones we'd be a good team and a happier fanbase.

Sather would have to pull several more Lindbergs out of his hat before he's back at even.

Do they even have bus stops there. ?

Fasth should pull a Mogilny.

After the medal ceremony of the 1989 World Championships, he left the Soviet team and defected to North America with the help of representatives of the Buffalo Sabres, the NHL club that had drafted him, 89th overall, a year earlier in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Mogilny chose the number 89 in recognition of both the year he defected and his place in the draft, wearing #89 for his entire playing career.

I say we declare Sweden, along with Finland and the Czech Republic, the Axis of Evil and call for the liberation of the long-suffering Swedish players.

Brooks:

The Post was told Jesper Fast was still dealing with the Swedish bureaucracy yesterday in attempting to gain permission to join the Rangers rather than commit to Team Sweden for the World Championship Tournament that will be played in Stockholm and Helsinki beginning May 3.

A source familiar with the situation said it was likely the 21-year-old winger, who signed an Entry Level contract last May, would join the Blueshirts at some point this week.

Great. Thanks NHL!

Can I ask what the NHL got in return?

North of 80 Swedes playing pro hockey in North America? :-)

Anyway, this sounds more of the Swedish fed trying to put the foot down(on something). The problem is that they already let Silfverberg go last season(and way later) so the precedent is set. Fasth is not even a lock for the World Champs team, so this will only look silly and there's nothing to gain. If they truly plan to enforce their rights in this matter going forward, they will have to notify the players in the offseason. Now is not the time.

Do they even have bus stops there. ?

i stared at that like 5 hours ago thinking... what does this have to do with anything... now looking again i remembered torts having beat brooksie up at a bus stop during an interview... well done +1

can't fast just refuse to be a part of the world championships? isn't that a players option or is he already on a 'list' for having played in the SEL?

Gotta know your Torts presser quotes , " they are your friends " pure comedy gold.

The Brooks article confuses me. So does that mean they're going to let him come over mid this week?

Why was Silfverberg allowed to come over last year? What about Soderberg with the Bruins?

How about they make a compromise? Fasth can come over here for a month but then he has to go back for the WCHs,?

He means if Sweden allows him to leave he will be here likely by mid week.

Minnesota D

Schmidt-Junior
Alt-Junior
Hagelson-SR
Marshall-Soph.
Reilly-FR
Skjei-FR

Holl is a Junior D playing the right wing

Parenteau is a Junior D playing the left wing but he has been moved back to D replacing Skjei.

Another D Blake Thompson(Soph)left Minnesota in December over playing time.

Holl was the 54th player taken in the 2010 draft by Chicago. He is a D playing forward this season. How does Chicago feel about that?

Reilly plays because he adds more offense.

Schmidt and Alt are expected to turn pro. Hagelson is graduating.

Minnesota has one D joining the program in the fall. Mike Brodzinski. He plays for Muskegon(USHL).
