Who is better Yogan or Mashinter?

Different players. Yogi definitely has more upside due to superior speed. Mash is more experienced and physically stronger. Mash can probably do more right now on the 4th line, but I don't see him improving very much, whereas Yogi could become a very good bottom-6 producer.

Fair enough, let me ask it this way, who is more NHL ready?
Last time Mashinter was up, he crapped the bed. I would take Yogan with better IQ and hands over Mashinter, agree?

Mash is probably more ready right now. Just because Yogan is playing good hockey at the AHL level, doesn't mean he's NHL ready. Give it another year for him. His ability to protect the puck with his body while skating fast isn't going to work against guys like Staal, Girardi and McD in the NHL. He won't play against these guys, but other teams have good defenders and they will stop him right now. He needs more polish, but he's getting better quickly.

So it's safe to say Talbot has a nice place in the future of the big club?

I've been saying that for a while, and I think the Rangers confirmed my evaluation by giving Talbot a one-way contract in the second year of his extension when Biron's contract ends.

He's very good. He's the team MVP. In the large majority of games, he's one of the top Whales. He should get the "Extra Effort" award too.

I am one of Yogan biggest fans, he needs at least 1 more year of seasoning in the AHL.
Mash is more NHL ready, his first time up here, he was trying to showcase his other talents besides fighting.

Whoops - they changed the scoring. It's now Ferreiro from Kreider and McI. I'm guessing Kreider took the shot and Ferreiro tipped it on the way in. Either way, good to see that the play started with McIlrath and Kreider played an integral role.

For the record, I'm simply stat surfing while I watch the Nets/Hawks game - I assume that Beacon will give us his usual detailed rundown at some point later on.

Very frustrating, I agree. But this is what happens in the AHL as far as I can remember. I didn't see tonight's game but I'm not more worried and don't even care that they blew it the lead. The AHL is a strange league. This affiliation has won a single title since they've been in Hartford and have always been a playoff team. I don't think I can really get across my feelings in words, because it's just something I've lived through as a fan since 1997. Think this team can and will make the playoffs.

FIRST PERIOD

Looks like Thomas moved up to the first line with Kreider and Noob, which I have been hoping for in recent weeks. Noob is a terrific playmaker at this level, and having two hard-shooting, fast-skating wingers around him may be very effective. They already created a good opportunity a couple minutes into the game.

Whale outshooting the Bruins 9-1 after 6 minutes, but no goals.

A bunch of shots by the Bruins now, but Mission is doing well.

After a good start by the Whale, it's total Bruin domination now. Shots are now 11-10 for the Bruins.

Good glove by Mission.

Penalty on the Bruins. Yogan is on the starting unit. Kreider-Noob-Thomas were just on the ice, but still good to see him play on PP.

Kreider takes a penalty while on the PP for clipping with his stick.

More good saves by Mission, but just gave up a huge rebound. If this is a minor problem for Talbot, it's a major problem for Mission.

Thomas had a good opportunity coming from McIlrath, but couldn't get the shot off.

END OF ONE: 16 of the last 17 shots were by the Bruins. Since the 7th minute of the period, the Whale has been outshot 16-1.

He has, and he's also cut down on WTF goals where you are left wondering how he gave up a goal that your dead grandmother would've stopped.

He's more an energy guy for Whale than anything else. To make the NHL, he'll need to either start scoring or improve his skating. If he can get a little bit faster, he could be a good spark plug guy.

Talbot has played way too many games this season. Too many back to backs and too frequently.

Downright brutal management of Talbot. You can't keep playing a guy that many times when he regularly has to face 35+ shots, with a few breakaways and 2 on 1 fastbreaks every period. He'll get run down and then start giving up soft goals because he's tired, followed by getting frustrated and going ice cold.

Mission is playing well, I don't understand why it's necessary to play Talbot so much.

SECOND PERIOD

The Whale is outshot 19-10 early in the period. The last 18 of the 19 shots by the Bruins.

Parlett got into a fight and got whooped, but the Bruin got instigation.

Bruins score after killing a penalty (obviously no shots) on a tic-tac-toe goal with Mission being left helpless. The last 19 of 20 shots are by the Bruins. This looks like the pros are playing against the amateurs.

Palm with a nice rush and a great pass to Tessier, who fanned on the shot. Still not shots since the middle of the first period.

I don't even wanna see goals anymore. I just want to see a shot. Any weak shot from the red line will do.

McIlrath with a good poke check. He's playing good defense.

OH BABY! Yogan with a shot. Now I can die in peace!

Thomas tried to stickhandle twice and both times coughed up the puck.

Penalty on the Whale after they were just dominated by the Bruins.

More big saves by Mission. But for his performance, could've been 6-0 by now. More big saves as I typed this.

Mission is the best player on the ice. He's really improved his ability to move side to side from the beginning of the season. Huge, huge performance by him in a game where Hartford is looking like it's not even in the same league as the Bruins. This looks like the Boston Bruins playing against Greenville.

I don't understand why Kenny G isn't calling a time out. Total domination out there.

GOAL: Wow, Hartford scores. Mash shot, rebound and Vernace scores. Parlett with the other assist.

And there's going to be a penalty on Providence too!

The Whale were outshot 31-13 up to that point.

Noob gave away the puck and it led to a 2-on-None, but Mission stopped it.


END OF TWO: I can't believe they came out of the period tied. Unbelievable. I just assumed this will be a shut out. Providence must be incredibly frustrated now.

THIRD PERIOD

Mission with a sprawling save. Can't believe he learned how to move side to side that well considering he was totally immobile just a couple of months ago.

Penalty on Whale. Score on side to side pass. Whale should've cleared it in one of the several chances they had.

Only 4:31 passed in the third, yet the Whale already gave up 36 shots.

OH BABY! Yogan with a monstrous play. Goes coast to coast, then scores on the wrap-around. 2-2. Just 32 seconds after the Bruins went ahead. Mash with an assist.

OMG! Palm with a great effort, passes Ferreiro who scores. Unbelievable!

McIlrath with a good defensive play.

Kreider is invisible out there. Jean is that much more so.

Double minor on Jean, one minor on the Bruin, so we are SH.

PENALTY SHOT BY NOOB. Left pad save. Too bad, could've been a chance to take a real lead, which they need considering they are on the PK and are being badly outplayed.

Kreider with one pass too many. Should've shot it.

Mash scores an empty netter. Whale wins, thhhheee Whale wins.
