Also, PA proposing as part of variance that, in multi-year contract, no season can have salary lower than 60 per cent of the highest

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris
A group of players and union staff have just returned to the NHL office. More pension talk, apparently.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Still 7-8 unresolved issues between both sides but big ones are Year 2 cap, length of player contracts, pensions...

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
On CBA length: NHLPA willing to go to 10 years with opt-out after Year 7; NHL at 10 years with opt-out after Year 8

Don+the players held back from Disclaiming to get a deal done, Gary's response was to change key parts of HRR compliance penalties
Bottom line: Gary and the people around him don't have a shred of respect for NHL players and they're showing it today.

A few other tweets:

Larry Brooks ‏@NYP_Brooksie
Belief within PA that Bettman/Batterman pulled bait and switch after initial disclaimer deadline passed.

Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype
Each time the NHL has moved the CBA target on the NHLPA, the players became more unified. Not sure what league thinks will be different now.

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
Told decision last nite to not file disclaimer totally fell on Don Fehr. #NHLPA Board gave Don sole power to make the decision either way.

Just stupid:

Many reporting on HRR discussions and allegations the NHL failed to identify alterations to specific articles, deeply concerning for pa...

League source says all "changes" to Article 50 were highlighted and flagged and the union has had docs for a week.

****ing children.

Reading some stuff today has me very concerned....Do you guys still feel confident that we will have a deal within a week?

I think they will strike a deal over the next few days. However, when you read some of these tweets, especially like the Dreger ones, it makes feel like these guys can't even read each other's proposals correctly.

A few trusty sources saying NHLPA - NHL deal will be announced tomorrow.... #FinalStretch #AboutTime
Andy Scott (twitter) @Andy_Scott15

So we've got a former player saying it's blowing up, and an agent saying there will be a deal tomorrow. Great.
Jesse Spector (twitter) @jessespector

such varying reports, what to believe...

That's why I've decided to tune out everyone until a deal is reached. Such varying reports, it's not worth investing my emotions into any of them.

Not that I believe either, but for sure I'd trust the lawyer over the former player

Players on conference call were angry about the HRR dust-up with the league. Foul mood right now on players' side

Not so fast...

And around and around we go.

It doesn't matter that they've had the docs for a week. Why are they messing with this stuff at this point in the process? HRR issues were decided in October. There haven't been any proposed changes to the HRR language until last week since then. So either they wanted to bog down the process or they were trying to sneak it in. Either way, I'd be pissed too if I were the players.

I'm with the players on that one. I just don't know why they didn't notice it earlier in the week.

Should add though, as @aaronward_nhl tweeted this morning, that the HRR issue was resolved this morning.

from a minute ago

Well that's key considering all the other tweets.

It was resolved yes, by bringing back the original wording and agreement
Ever been in a serious negotiation (maybe not exactly like this...) and somebody pulls this kinda feces?
I have, many times. And it usually is to no benefit at all for the party trying to do it - when they get caught...
But Gary loves the game. And the players. And the fans of course...

Strickland from St Louis
What a surprise

Andy Strickland ‏@andystrickland
All Owners knew the #CBA was ending and were warned to be responsible last summer. Why should they be bailed out with a higher cap in 13-14?

trust...plain and simple...you should be able to trust that was decided on a month or so ago would be left alone on what was agreed upon, to have to go back over it causes headaches, but now the PA does not trust the league (even more) and they will read over everything even more thoroughly than they were before.
