Are czech citizens thoroughly embarressed to be watching this disgrace of a team? How can these teams even look themselves in the mirror? It was the same with the russian team last night, every play is a dive. I feel like I'm watching the World Juniors all over again with the Russians diving every play. This is why besides the czech's winning in 1998 Europeans havent won a best on best tournament in near 30 years. No heart, no guts. I think that if Canada played like that I would consider going out and burning all my team Canada jerseys because its just a complete disgrace to the game and everything it stands for. I've seen Midget 1 players who take hits better than this pathetic team.

And why does this tournament even exist, clearly they cannot supply referees of any credibility. Where are these refs coming from? I could walk down the street and watch novice games which are reffed better. This is more like a circus than a hockey tournament. Actually its more like the oscars, and the team with the best acting performance may win it all.

a little harsh, but hey, a spade is a spade.

I'm not a Mod but let's keep the discussion on the game. this thread has been locked once because it turned into a discussion beyond the game or tourny.

It's not like the reffing is only Canada's problem, there were a couple of terrible calls against the Czechs too.

But the way the Czechs are diving and ducking hits is just so embarrassing for the game.

The reffing is absolutely terrible both ways. It was terrible both ways in the czech-russia game.

The diving however, is a very one sided problem.

Welcome to the board :jump: I hope you take it from a very embarressed czech citizen with no heart and guts :biglaugh: Jesus you must be a very dumb f.ck but all of us have to be something, right? :handclap:

I'm suprised you responded instead of ducking out of the way or pretending you were mortally injured. Actually, I'm not suprised your not embarresed, why be embarresed if you actually believe diving is good for the sport or if you believe diving isnt a completely european problem. In both cases you would be severely deluded of course.

And yet, somehow, Canada is the only team to be called for diving so far in this game.

The second period has been much better. The ref must have been spoken to. He's letting them play a lot more this period and the hockey is better all around.

Not so many dives either. Much better performances by the Czechs and the ref.

Another nice and *dangerous* turtle by Handsel.

Handsel should go find Gretel and go the hell back to the old lady's candy house.

Good player, doesn't need to be pulling that stuff.

How can you be surprised that I responded, when you came to this forum today? :dunno: I truly dont believe diving is for the good of the sport. Also what I dont believe in is this europe against north america bull... Everything bad in the game came from Europe, right? :) Oh, 1:1 BTW

Two Czech goals in 1:02.

Nice play and nice finish by Hanzel on the first goal. Second one was a bad goal for Price to give up, breakaway, went for the poke check and missed - left his legs wiiiide open and the puck just slid through him.

Canada has been the better team, but not generating any great scoring chances. With the crowd back into it and going bananas here it will be a tough battle back in the third.

Sorry, 2:1

There are lots of European players that I love. But in international tournaments, european teams are notorious for diving. And this czech team is reinforcing the validity of that notoriety. Boy, that one player must have been severely injured considering he cost Canada a goal by staying down so long...oh wait, he's just diving as usual. Back on the bench at the start of the second. Typical.

Hey guys, keep the racism going. I for one do not take it personally. Since we are talking about bad sportmanship, i believe canadians invented the word in icehockey - by deliberately trying to injure the opposite teams star players. Thats really bad sportmanship. And the irony of it all, is that you actually think its defendable.

Bugs me, when you people for some reason, think your actually the country that acts out of morals more than anyone else, when the truth is, that your the nation with absolute no moral or sportmanship whatsoever. You do anything to win, even it involves trying to get people seriously injured.

Actually, I would not mind that very much at all. Would leave all the future Jagrs, Kurris, Forsbergs and Ovechkins to play in Europe. ;)

That would be fine by me, then some of our smaller skilled players who never get a chance would get more time to show their skills in the NHL.

Not as good as Kessel! :teach: ;)

Very true. Kessel was a presence every time he was on the ice. He's a brilliant player. Frolik is very flashy at times but is invisable most of the game.

From this tournament onward, Kessel will be considered the concensus number one pick.

You're not helping the case here. I'd like to see people generalize less...

Untrue. Nothing further to add. Thanks for coming out.
