I love how Kings fans on the main board don't understand the the Bronx cheer is as much about commiseration as it is about mockery.

For the love of God, keep Cally with Boyle. Cally plays so much better with grinders...

Was Fast playing tonight? I don't ever remember seeing him....

Pulled this from the main board thread... Sutter in the press conference:

Q: "Did you talk with him after the game?"
A: "No, there's nothing to talk about. He dropped his stick. What do you want me to tell him? 'Don't drop your stick.'"

I love when coaches or players give reporters sass when they ask stupid questions.

I'm actually surprised that Sutter spoke that many words.
He is pretty droll, and the reporter deserved that, for sure.

But, but, but, but Callahan should be playing on the 1st or 2nd line?!?!?!?!?....,,

That was the bs I had to hear all training camp last year when the lockout ended because I was stating Callahan belongs on the 3rd line with Boyle as his center. People wanted Cally on the 2nd line because he can put up 20-30 goals. I guess I was under the silly impression we were here to win hockey games. Callahan with Boyle on the 3rd line can be a puck possession, wear opposing teams downs, grind it out, and shut down opposing teams top forwards. It is what Torts should've done especially with the system Torts likes. That combo would've* been great for him.

Oh well because AV seems to have a feel for that. He rolls all 4 lines. He got much more out of Nash tonight. Richards has played well. Staal has been absolutely stellar. D.Moore has been great on the dot. Boyle has grinded hard.

Can't believe we went into LA and took 2 points, and only gave up 1 goal. But moreso...holy moly, I can't believe the forechecking, forcing-turnovers, go-get-em style the team played tonight. That was impressive, and the kind of display that 99% of the time we would see against the Rangers instead of by the Rangers.

I'm as big of a Torts fan as there was, and think too many fans turned on him. But if this is how the team will play under AV, then I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I definitely hope this is more the norm, rather than a fluke performance...wishful thinking, I know.

Another thing that impressed me that I hope continues. Take a peak at the TOI spread for this team and compare it to a typical game under Torts. Our players will definitely not wear down as easily this year. Depth is a nice thing

The game really should have been a blowout. Quick was terrific tonight, Rangers could have had 5 or 6.

Henrik Lundqvist was, again, outplayed. I'm a little worried about him. The Brown post shot in particular made me feel like his focus just isn't where it needs to be.

I agree with you through two periods. I thought Hank was sensational in the 3rd.

Quick was godly, outside of the fluke goal.

To be fair, the Rangers often outworked the other team, but over time, the way they outworked them resulted in diminishing returns. I am really hoping to see the energy going into getting the puck out of the defensive zone by whatever method is most expedient (fast, safe and possibly exploitative of the opposition), in other words, not as much of a 'system'. Let it roll. If they get sloppy, revisit.

I agree with Boyle, he was great tonight. So was........Zuccarello. He hit everyone and hounded every forward for pucks, including ones literally 8-10 inches taller than him. Got me so fired up.

Yeah man, Zucc caused about 5 turnovers on the Kings on his own. It was so awesome to watch

Don't forget Pyatt as well... I'm incredibly surprised at how much he actually accomplished. Looks like he isn't a Torts guy afterall

I mean don't get me wrong: In an ideal setting, Cally wouldn't be playing with Boyle on a 3rd line(Boyle isn't a 3rd line center imo). You would have a two way center who can grind that can play with Ryan. But Cally is simply not that skilled. Putting him with guys like Brassard/Zucc would be endless blind backhand passes and mis reads.

With Boyle, Cally can play a straight ahead game where he can cycle along the boards until some space opens up around the corners. Then they can crash the net. Cally makes Boyle look so much better. Boyle doesn't have to over handle the puck or do all the defensive work. Boyle has board support from Cally who is even better than Brian along the wall. It allows Boyle more time to shift himself into better position...

I've never seen a Rangers team grind down an opponent like the 11-12 team did. But I have definitely not seen any Rangers team cause this many turnovers off the forecheck in a LONG time.

The Rangers are also MUCH better on their breakouts. No more endless stretch passes. Players are carrying the puck more or making simple plays.

You were very consistent in your criticism of the predictable and innefective method the Rangers employed trying to transition to offense last season.
You were correct, as I eventually came to realize too.
