The Rangers "Big" players.....Pyatt, Boyle, Nash, Staal, Asham, and Pouliot, were all TERRIFIC. Really helped offset the Kings forecheck with their size and ability to make a play.

Fantastic game by the Rangers, but, even moreso, a terrible game for the Kings...I lost count of the number of unforced turnovers they had.

Is anyone else losing their mind over these incessant Ford commercials and that terribly annoying song that plays?? This is 2 years in a row now where they are using the same exact music and this commercial probably airs 4 or 5 times every broadcast (I lose count how many times I have to mute the tv)... I mean WTF! Is Ford so broke that they can't afford to make new commercials or change them up with different music? Is their marketing department so braindead as to not realize how repetitive airing of the same commercial can generate negative reactions/attitudes towards the brand? I've had enough of this crap commercial. When will it end???

Great effort that shows what this team can do. My concern is still Richards.. I don't think he can sustain 1st line minutes, especially over a whole season. Great effort tonight though.

well tonight wasn't a good night to be concerned with him lol.. He was one of the best on the ice tonight bar none.

By the way, that fluke goal made the end of the game really strange. It had all of the feel of a blowout, but the Rangers were only up by two. It completely sucked the life out of anyone involved with the Kings, from the fans on up to the players.

So the 1-2-2 is working for you guys? Glad it is...it was horrendous in the west. For the love of your team I hope the East doesn't figure it out because that's what happened in Vancouver which was the demise of AV. Wanna cheer for you guys, but every time I see it...it's just makes me wanna throw something at the TV.

Understandable, I feel the same about Torts' system. Effective, but gets on your nerves after several years.

The biggest issue I had with Torts was his tendency to shell with a lead, and AV will have none of that, which I certainly like.

Some quick thoughts:

1. Nash dawdling away that empty netter was solely to spite my fantasy team, I'm sure of it.

2. Solid game, outplaying a team like the Kings 5v5 is very impressive and a good indication for the future. Let's see how we handle the Sharks.

3. I still hate the D pairings.

4. The first line still cannot establish an attack, but man are they great at forcing turnovers!

5. PP still sucks.

6. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL @ Quick.

7. Dorsett drew penalties instead of taking them, if he can keep this up he might actually add some value.

8. I'm really glad Cally is OK and that it wasn't his shoulder that got re-injured as the Kings broadcasters speculated.

9. Pyatt and Boyle are having a great start to the season.

10. Quick...

The game really should have been a blowout. Quick was terrific tonight, Rangers could have had 5 or 6.

Henrik Lundqvist was, again, outplayed. I'm a little worried about him. The Brown post shot in particular made me feel like his focus just isn't where it needs to be.

Del Zotto's offense was a little meh this game, but his defense was phenomenal. I also noticed that he's skating the puck out of the zone more often than he has in prior seasons, which is nice to see.

I would like to see a bit more balance in the minutes the three D pairs receive. Staal/MDZ is about right at 20-21 minutes, but I think McD and Girardi are playing a couple minutes more than they need to (and Moore needs to be playing more than 12 minutes per game). If they can get Moore/Stralman up to ~17 minutes per game, and Girardi/McD down to about 22 or so, I think that will go a long way towards keeping our D fresh throughout the long season--particularly if they are going to be playing this up-tempo style.

Zuke, Nash and Richards were just everywhere.

I thought I'd seen it all after the Hagelin goal against the Bruins in the playoffs. McD's tonight WTF!

A very good game for us. I didn't expect to win this one. LA was very sloppy in its own end and had numerous turnovers on breakout plays.

Henrik was really good tonight. The best he's looked by far this year. We had some sloppy moments ourselves--just not as many. Richards-Stepan-Nash were really good. Callahan played really well. Wasn't anyone who played badly. It was an excellent team effort all around.

That was the best forechecking I've seen out of the Rangers in years. They were all over LA. The kings announcers were very impressed. Solid 60 minute game, definitely played "safe is death".

smoneil beat me to it but Del Zotto was FANTASTIC defensively tonight. Not much offense he brought but wow he looked very solid today.

3 stars:

Richards
Nash
Zucc

Pretty much every forward was skating hard. Great thing to see. Defensively McDonagh and Staal were stellar. Del Zotto and Stralman were also good. Moore/Girardi were meh.

Lundqvist looked a lot better but still doesn't quite look himself. He is still fighting off a lot of pucks, giving up juicy rebounds and is a bit out of position. I'm thinking his contract status is in the back of his mind. I hope that can get resolved soon so he doesn't have to worry about it.

Unforced? Maybe there were a few, but the Rangers' forecheck was relentless. Best it's been in quite some time, against an elite team. This game has given me a ton of hope for this road trip.

Also, the breakout looks so much better this year so far early on.. It's amazing what happens when 2 or 3 defensemen aren't on their ass from trying to block every shot in the world how it improves that.

Hank has been a little shaky to start the year but I am not worried about him. Took him a little while to settle down last season too.
