Honestly, I would stick in Fast next game to replace Pouliot..

No way. I'm hoping he's just snakebitten right now and will start to pot some. I'm a big fan of that Brassard line. Even if they're having trouble finishing, that line is dominant at times; Keeping the puck in the O-zone for entire shifts at a time is huge for us momentum-wise.

agreed... too soon to break that line up. let pouliet get note comfortable in the system. he cab be the finisher. no doubt in that one. he reminds me of hagelin, he can get ahead of the opposing man on him and make room to finish....

it won't look like hags with Nash though, that is for sure.

That line is creating way too many chances to not start finishing some.

You were very consistent in your criticism of the predictable and innefective method the Rangers employed trying to transition to offense last season.
You were correct, as I eventually came to realize too.

LOL, it was more like a broken record. It was like screaming at a brick wall.

Its too early for a definitive analysis, but the Rangers are looking like a modern NHL team with their transitions finally.

IMO, the transition game was the biggest problem with Torts. Even worse than the PP. The Rangers should have never struggled anywhere near as bad on their transition under Torts. Especially with some very good two way skating Dmen this team has. It never made any sense...

I mean don't get me wrong: In an ideal setting, Cally wouldn't be playing with Boyle on a 3rd line(Boyle isn't a 3rd line center imo). You would have a two way center who can grind that can play with Ryan. But Cally is simply not that skilled. Putting him with guys like Brassard/Zucc would be endless blind backhand passes and mis reads.

With Boyle, Cally can play a straight ahead game where he can cycle along the boards until some space opens up around the corners. Then they can crash the net. Cally makes Boyle look so much better. Boyle doesn't have to over handle the puck or do all the defensive work. Boyle has board support from Cally who is even better than Brian along the wall. It allows Boyle more time to shift himself into better position...
I understand what you are saying in the first part of your post about the ideal center cally should play with but we don't have that ideal center. Boyle is the closest player we have to that ideal player. And that is basically the direction you go into in the second half of your post. You essentially describe the situation or rather opportunity we have to exploit with boyle and callahan. They are two players that because of the way they play and what their capabilities are (which include not being the most skilled players), they can compliment each other so well. They can have this thing called chemistry. And you saw that tonight in their board play. They cycled smoothly together, having that feel for where each other are on the ice and where they are going to be.

The ideal center would be Miller or Lindberg, but they aren't ready yet...

Callahan and Boyle just cause trouble for people on the ice against them. I know it's heresy, but I like Cally-Boyle-Zucc as the second line, let Pouliot and Brass do their thing on the 3rd. Zucc-Pouliot-brass just aren't quite talented enough offensively to overcompensate for their defensive inadequacies when matched regularly against the opponents second and sometimes first lines. It's looking like we might have a pretty deep team, and lines 2-3 can be fairly interchangeable, and still being able ti ice what should be easily an above average 4th line.

Its kinda funny but true:

If Torts was still coaching this team, no way our first line would have stayed together...

Johnny juggles would have never given these guys time to gel....

I don't see how Zuc would help that line at all. He would be terribly out of place. Zuc has played very well with Brassard...

Zucc needs to play with skilled players if you want to maximize his strengths...

Richards looks great, he really does. If he can keep this up, our offense becomes that much more dangerous. He looks much more like 2011-12 Richards and not 12-13 Richards. The biggest thing is he looks to be in shape, he's not caught a step behind the pace or anything.

When Richards is playing him like the player we are paying him to be, he controls the pace when he's out there. That was what made last season such a disappointment, that he was constantly behind the pace and was always playing catch up. In PHX and tonight, Richards looked to be closer to the Richards we all loved.

All I know is that the Richards of last season, doesn't score that first goal. He's either caught behind the play and a step too late, or he fails to kick it to his stick and falls down. I'm liking what I'm seeing from him very much.

Staal looked very good. McD with the snipe  .

Pyatt and Boyle both were very effective and looked strong. Only complaint is they get way too much ice time.

can anyone answer me what is up with the analysis thread? its confusing. Why not a post game thread and a GDT? Wish you guys would stop deleting posts. <3

I ask what was wrong with last years format? I dont get what is going on here lately.

I agree, this whole new thing is so unintuitive. Why don't we just ordered back to post game threads and keep the between period chat in the GDTs?

I agree, the old way was fine. Don't really see the advantage of "switching" threads during the game.

Gotta say the quality of intermission posts in the "analysis" thread has greatly superseeded that of the gdts of prior years so I dunno. I was against this, but it has seemingly worked.

I'm still a proponent of just cleaning up the gdts and having one gdt and one pgt, though.

I know its sacrilege to speak about the moderators but I would be a fan of leaving things alone. There is way too much tweaking - just let us post and enjoy the board the way it has been for years. I've been posting a long time and I only wish it was like 4-5 years ago.
