I expected for the defense to not look like a Norwegian high school pond hockey team
 
Henrik looks small slow old and stiff. His reflects and flexibility look atrocious and for a guy his size that plays as deep as he does it is a major problem.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he calls it a career after this season. It might go that badly for him. I’ve never seen him look so stiff and slow even in his bad streaks.

Watch other games you see big fast flexible goalies making saves point blank routinely. Like you saw from varlamov who shesterkin has a lot of same attributes.

Lundqvist and his style are done. He’s been outgoaltended by his backups for 4 years now.

Having said all that. The guys in front of him were terrible. He just no longer can bail them out

I dont think age is Lundys issue. He is 5 months older than when he dominated MTL. He is 4 months older than when he won for Team Sweden. He is just playing badly. He has had really bad stretches almost every year but last year he was up and down. There was a play where he was out of the net where I was thinking Lundy you have to hurry back not take your time. Our skaters are not helping him out much either.

Okay, you are right, play 5 defensemen, leave Staal out of the equation. :rolleyes:

Who do you want him paired with? The guy who's gifted the other team two goals in this game? Staal is defensive minded. He's bad, but I don't think he's been terrible so far for how he usually plays, this season. I'd try that for now, there are no great solutions here.
 
If AV doesn't adjust and they don't come out as a completely different team to start the 2nd, I'd can his ass before he even got in the plane.
