It`s a good question, but based on experience and watching hockey for two decades, and some coaches prefer using veteran players like Quinn.

I think they like having a mix and certain vets they’ll rely on in certain positions but are happy to play rookies in other areas. I think Quinn isn’t sold on two RD rookies in the lineup at the same time and want some additional experience on D

Since Buffalo is right across the border from Canada they play the Canadian anthem too and probably have a fair number of Canadian hockey fans who just want to see games but Leaf tickets are too expensive
