Negligible change. The midseason acquisitions and players getting hot were the reasons for last year's success.

I am asking for this team to get hot now, and be in a good position at the deadline so that they don't have to go 45-15 or whatever it was last year in the last 2 months.

Some positives/things to look forward to

Travis will be back soon. He'll be a big boost to the offence
Martin can't be this bad at the plate for long. Something seems off with him
EE is starting to heat up
Tulo has shown signs of coming around
Cecil and Storen can't remain this bad
They'll have some more options for the bullpen with Loup, Schultz and Morales returning soon

After watching parts of the last couple games I'm really glad they got rid of Lawrie. Such an unlikable player.

is it just me or does it seem this guy is on something, I can understand being competitive and into the game but this guy looks like he's ultra hyper or something lol..I don't know I'm probably just talking crap but I just find his whole vibe akward. Guy needs to relax a bit.

Do you really think Donaldson will sign a second contract here in Toronto? The Jays have never been able to get a guy to sign a 2nd deal.
I'd be horrible if Donaldson leaves.
They put his mom out to pitch for Bobblehead day ... so it's not like they aren't trying !
(Smart move, BTW).

Although I do agree with you on almost every point, I hope Bo Schultz is nowhere near this team.

In 2 years when both EE and JB are gone, Donaldson goes to the Yankees, and Tulowitzki is the next Vernon Wells, this team is gonna look even worse (jk).

:P

Hopefully that doesn't actually happen. Rough stretch right now

He looks scary on the white sox, always seems extremely angry when he strikes out. Seems to hack at the ball alot too.

glad we got rid of the guy, donaldson is 10X better.

I believe Halladay signed 2 contracts with Toronto. Delgado too. Vernon Wells signed for 7 years. Give me a break with this whole narrative that players don't want to stay with the Blue Jays. If the Jays offer JD a fair market value deal, and the team is not a train wreck, he will re-sign.

I mean both EE and Bautista did re-sign with the Jays after monster years too ... Hard pressed to say the Jays can't retain elite talent.

That being said, I'm noticing Bautista's decline in RF this year .. For the future of the club it doesn't make sense to sign both IMO

Yep, JB probably shouldn't be in the OF after this year. Agree that signing both would be problematic.

Estrada, Dickey, Happ, Floyd, Chavez, Storen, Biagini, Venditte, Morales: 116.2ip, 4.09era (107-), 3.83fip (96-), 4.27xfip (109-), 4.15siera, 1.3fwar, 0.6ra9war

$50m doesn't buy what it used to. That's a lot of money for sub-mediocrity.

Thank the babip gods for stepping in and stopping the Saunders-Bruce trade, at least.

With players getting paid a median of 5.9 mill per WAR contributed, I think this looks just about right (they are actually on pace of contributing 1 fWAR per $5.46 mill during the course of the season). Thou, Storen pitching like an AAAA reliever while getting payed "closer money" really hurts this group's production.

if you think paying $50m for mediocrity is good GMing, I disagree.

It's like he takes pre-workouts that never wear off.
