I get to roll this out once a year.

Selfishly I wouldn't mind the game being canceled. Don't need to be hearing from their fans saying we beat Bridgeport. I'm going miss it because of driving back to NY.

I'd rather beat Bridgeport than lose to them. Not our fault half their lineup is out.

The Islanders 4th line will try to set the pace of the game. I think the Rangers will go up early and then it will start to get chippy. Rangers 5-2.

Yeah, they'll start the game and dump it in first chance they get and try adn run the puck retriever through the glass. I'm sure Gallant knows this and is prepared for it. Start Goodrow line and Trouba-Miller.

Big games and a heavy fore check from CK-JGaut-Hunt . Let them two big guys own the Fishstick crease and corners while Chytil and Laf and KK score at will . If Chara and Ross the Boss are out ....leave Tinordi behind as Reaves likely can handle Martin easily enough . 7-1 Rangers .

Islanders fan coming in peace, as I was curious if Rangers fans were thinking this - as an Islanders fan, of course I want the game canceled as the Bridgeport Islanders will get manhandled tonight, but my bigger issue is why do OTHER teams want the Islanders to play on right now? My risk analysis would say that 2 easy points isn't enough motivation to risk having Covid blow through your team like it's blowing through the Islanders, but maybe I'm over-cautious.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the protocols exist to ensure that the people with Covid AREN'T playing in the game?

There's no Covid risk for the Rangers in this game, not any more than there would be in any other game.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Laf is benched for this one.. they even targeted Lundell in Fl when Barkov got hurt.
I would be stunned if Lafreniere was benched for this game.

Not only does it make no sense because the alternative is Greg McKegg stepping into the lineup but also because Laf really hasn't been bad lately. Every PGT I see people complaining about him and saying he's invisible. Sure, he's not putting up tons of points but his line has been the team's best for the past couple weeks and Laf has looked energetic and has been good on the forecheck and has had and created some chances. His play is trending in the right direction IMO so seeing the constant complaints about him is odd.

I don't even know how that idea began.

Covid is infectious during the asymptomatic period and tests may not 100% always catch someone who is infectious. Not sure what kind of tests they're using either as antigen tests aren't great at catching all that.

So, there's a risk, but hopefully it's minimal

Not quite accurate, the tests aren't that precise, they are just the best we can do right now. You can be infectious starting day 2 after exposure, PCR testing is not reliable until day 4-5 after exposure. So Chara was likely infectious when he played in the Toronto and maybe Cgy, Bellows likely infectious against Cgy.
My concern when you know an outbreak is ongoing that other players are about to pop positives, but like everything with Covid, YMMV!

I was told (not sure of the veracity) that the initial tests are antigen, if there is a positive or an uncertain result, they go to PCR. I have a hard time believing they are relying on antigen tests, TBH. (And they especially shouldn't use them if there's an outbreak on a team)

Right, but my point is that the risk isn't any larger playing against the Islanders than it would be playing against any other team. Every team is using the same tests. It's just as likely that someone on another team has it, is asymptomatic, and tests negative.

I don't think "just as likely", really, as there's a known outbreak going on with the Islanders with 7 players infected, so there's an elevated risk of multiple others being infected too. It doesn't really matter all that much for the Islanders, as Covid will do what Covid does and eventually burn through the team, but I suppose we'll know more in a few days if Toronto or Calgary start to pop positives after playing the Islanders.
