As always with Hank (when has a below average game and if you point out that he needs to make saves on at least SOME of those shots that went in,) the same people show up to make every excuse in the world. Then they argue against any criticism. Simultaneously, others will exaggerate how bad the game was which causes an even greater denial of any wrongdoing

He's had plenty of games all season where, out of the shots that went in today, he makes at least 2 more of those saves. The score would be 3-1 or 3-2 and it'd allow the team a chance to come back and win.

That's what your 8 M goalie is paid to do, make at least 1 or 2 more of those saves. He failed tonight. But even the best will have an off night, it's not an indictment of his overall play. He's been amazing so far this season, as always.

But I will never agree with nevesis' push to convince us that every tough goal needs to be excused

You can separately point out ADA losing his man or Skjei or Pionk failing to secure the opposing players stick before the deflection. You can discuss the bad Vesey pass or how great of a shot Bealiviulivue (whatever the f***) made. You can also point out that the 8 M goalie needs to be in the right position to make 1 or 2 more of those saves.

The Islanders probably had the luckiest game of their lives with the deflections and horrible reffing calls.

Other than the goal, Chytil wasn’t great. His puck control is concerning. Howden was very good. Kreider was obviously very good. Zibanejad was pretty good. Hayes was pretty good. Namestnikov pissed me off a couple times. Andersson was ok.

Skjei was flat out bad. Pionk was meh, but made some good offensive plays. I would really like to see him produce more 5-on-5, though. ADA has his worst game of the season, but still wasn’t horrible. Shattenkirk was pretty decent, all things considered.

Hank was pretty bad. Had some tough shots to deal with, but should have stopped at least 1 or 2 of them.

Really f*cking frustrating game. My night is ruined, and that doesn’t happen often. The Islanders just have so many punchable faces, and they all scored.
Guess you haven't lived that long.......I assure you, there were MANY others. Last night was NOTHING in comparison to some others, specifically PO games.

Zucc has looked disinterested for going on 2 years now. He desperately needs a change of scenery. Looks heartbroken.

Guy can’t even answer a simple question like what’s your favorite food without a depressing existential answer about not liking food. Go away your fire is out.

Agreed, Gorton just needs to maximize his trade value. Addison from the Pens would be an awesome get.

Shattenkirk with a point. Hopefully that gets him going. Would be nice to see his point totals start to increase.

As an aside, you can see he is not 100% strength in his legs. His turns and pushing off is not the same as the beginning of last year

Gorton purchased damage goods. It happens, and I think we're reaching a point where you really have to wonder if it's going to get better.

Get Zucc off that top line would be a stsrt. Namestnikov was the much better fit with Chytil and Zibanejad

Skjei May get the night off but wouldn’t surprise me if ADA gets sat. Not his best game and Quinn has a short leash with him.

Hank was terrible. Even the partial breakaway short side make a save.

Shouldn’t lose a road game when you score 5 goals.

Absolutely not. out of all the goals that that D pairing gave up, ADA was responsible for ONE of them, and even then, that goal happened because of a god awful turnover by Skjei in his own corner

He’s shown nothing that says he’s a center. You stop it.

Assuming we are talking about Chytil, I agree. He has playmaking hands but I do not see him being an NHL responsible center. he should play wing and simply use those hands as a playmaking asset. If he does this right he can become a Patrick Kane light.

Ironically, I think Andersson is going to become what Johnathan Toews is today

He lost his man in front once
I felt, even if it wasn't his guy normally, in one situation he should've covered the slot a little better instead of just standing still when no one was anywhere near him and then on the empty netter he stopped his feet and looked around instead of skating through with the puck and then looking to get a pass off (akin to a WR dropping a tough pass that nonetheless hit them in the hands)

I’m not sure what to think of Andersson right now.

I certainly don’t want to see him sat! I just can see Quinn using last night as a reason to do it.

I loved this game
Players got to pad their stats while getting a loss
With that said Skjei and Zuc need to be traded now before their stock goes down any further

I’m not sure what to think of Andersson right now.

I got my head taken off yesterday as usual when I talk about this kid even if I say nice things but look. He’s not going to be one of the top 3 centers on this team going forward. Zibanejad Howden and presumably Chytil or a top 5 pick in the draft He’s not going to play over kreider Panarin (oh he’s coming) buchnevich Kravstov or Chytil if they do move him to wing as you prefer.

He’s going to be a solid third line wing with leadership and some finish. He’s going to kill penalties maybe get pp2 mins Give us similar to what Callahan gave us. points wise 40 to 50 pts maybe at his best and like Callahan you hope he wears the C. Although Howden May be that guy to wear it even more.

The skating will always be the issue to keep him from being a top player. It’s that bad and can only improve so much. But he’s going to get bigger stronger and somewhat faster and be a pain to play against.

Im confused, please help me. We have won some games, but had been outchanced......so therefore we didnt deserve to win and people complain.

We lose last night for example, but actually played better defense, because the statistical geniuses state that the Isles had few real good opportunities, and people arent happy because we lost and want to blame Hank. Hmmm.

All of this coming in a season in which......we "technically" be happy with every loss and shouldnt be arguing with one another, nor blame our silly coach for wanting to win. Silly me.

To sum it up......HF (Rangers board) is a fickle bunch.

P.S. Me? I'm ecstatic that we may still have a high pick, but NOT be the laughing stock of the league.

One of the topics we have discussed is that, while the Rangers are adding a lot of young prospects, both through the draft and trades, we really don’t know what the final roster construction is going to be. Some of these kids could turn out to be trade assets and not core players at the end. I’ve said before that I could see players like Pionk, Skjei and Buchnevich may not be here when the Rangers are ready to contend. It’s possible, especially if Howden continues show his upward trend, Andersson could be another one of those players. That’s why Gorton needs to continue to add young players to promote the competition that forces the best players to emerge.

No question at the end of the day the guys that show up and play better are going to be the guys going forward regardless of draft status. Howden IS ahead of Andersson now. He is. Chytil they love just love him. Both those kids are ahead of Lias Kravstov is ahead of him. Zibanejad is 25 years old. He’s a stud. Kreider is a stud. And probably will be able to skate till he’s 65. Panarin is coming it’s worst kept secret in the league.

Buchnevich is the one guy I agree I could see them saying ehhh maybe not a guy we want to commit too long term. This is a big year for him.

Missed the Chytil and Kreider goals because i fell asleep

Chytil is finally starting to score, he’s about to go streaking. He’s also playing with even more confidence now. Starting to see that upside more consistently.

I do believe that is still illegal. Not sure about the Czech republic though. Enlighten me?

It was a major surgery. I am thinking he will get better as the season goes on. He's either not 100% trusting of that leg or his strength isn't up to where he needs it to be which is understandable. It's the quick turns and elusiveness he is missing which is such a big part of his game considering he has never been a super fast guy anyways.

Either way, I'm hoping he puts up ~40-45 points this season and then Gorton decides to ride with Pionk and ADA next season.

Team clearly forgot how to defend the point shot last night.

Zucc just doesn't look good. It's 1 game back after injury sure but it feels like he's not as much of a fit for this style versus the AV style. I'm probably being too hard on him, it's just his habit of throwing blind and high risk passes around that often result in turnovers that can hinder his line.

He wasn't really a "fit" under AV last year either.

His game along the walls has completely deteriorated. Those were battles that he used to win regularly now its a surprise if he comes away with the puck. He'd be under much more fire collectively had he not Spooner'd his way to halfway decent production.

Prime Zucc would have fit in just fine. This current edition is is a UFA mistake thats already happened before its happened.

I think Zucchas lost a step. He needed every bit of his talent to be what he was. He's not 25 anymore. On a team where he's secondary scoring, it's not going to be as evident. I know it's blasphemy, but I really wanted to see him with Brass and Hagelin again. So much for that. I don't think youll see him dealt before January ends though.

It was entertaining true. Hank making a save or two would have been a win no question in my mind.

I’m really not interested in wins right now, especially of the shootout variety. I want the kids to show growth, I want Zibanejad and Kreider to show they’re worth keeping long term and I want any of the tradable vets to maximize their trade value. If that produces wins from time to time, so be it.

He needs the puck on his stick, like say Jagr did? He has no awareness for the position. Playing center is more than just winning faceoffs. He’s much more likely to reach the top end of his potential at, especially when there are natural centers like Zibanejad (who you want to move to the wing) and Howden who at age 20 has shown he can play center already here, not to mention the opportunity to add another high end center in the upcoming draft.

This is the part I question. If we somehow ended up with 1OA, then I suppose its a given they draft Hughes?
Even with the supposed dealing of Hayes (or Zbad, God forbid) then we still have a glut of Centers.
Obvious answer is that "someone would have to move to the wing. Youre NOT going to be playing Howden or Chytil on the 4th line, now are we? So......even though chances are slim for Hughes, why would it be such a bad idea to get Chytil some serious playing time on the wing......if that scenario happens.
As long as he gets more minutes.....that shoukd be the main thing here. Eventual goal would be to roll 4 lines, but that isn't happening with McDufus and My Cousin Vinny law firm.

Or, would Zbad be the next to go AFTER Hayes next year? That would be crazy. Never happen.

In the short term it's fine, long term I disagree with the move

If that's the case 3-4 years from now, fine keep him at wing

But I'd rather he learn now at center
Beg to differ, he needs playing time AND growing confidence. He playing Center is a whole other ballgame. Hayes has just become a responsible defensive center in last 2 years, and arguably much better than Zbad. There is plenty of time for him to be a 200ft center, let him play......on the wing......alot.

When Hayes goes, then its a different story and he'll get minutes at center. Imo.
