Problem with Lettieri for me is that he just looks like a good AHL player that can't do the same things at the NHL level. His positioning isn't great/instinctive like it needs to be for a guy who wants to be a shooter, he works hard but isn't particularly good along the boards or at winning battles, he tries but it just doesn't come together like it does at the AHL level. Sure not playing with McLeod would help but while I could watch Chytil and to some extent Andersson (though I haven't seen a ton of his game since the callup) and see them consistently flash or do good things, I don't see that much from Lettieri
I would agree. I think that he earned a shot with a pretty good camp performance but that never translated into anything tangible. I actually had some hopes for him coming out of camp and but he has shown next to nothing.

he's going to be a good player. DeAngelo too. it's very hard to get this "Pionk vs ADA" debate out of peoples heads, but it doesn't need to happen. Both of them are 2nd pairing guys with #2 dman potential. We're lucky to have both
I think that the debate only happens when the DeAngelo crowd tries to justify his benchings/scratchings/lack of PP time by trying to marginalize Pionk and what he has done.

Toews has been a 60-65 point center for his entire career. Put up 70+ only once. He's had Patrick kane to play with for his entire career. Andersson has the IQ and the motor to do what Toews did.

Chytil + Andersson can become our version of Kane and Toews. Perhaps not as elite, but that is what I see. We forget how young these guys are. Andersson JUST turned 20 last month. Chytil JUST turned 19 2 months ago, Howden has to wait 4 more months just to hit legal US drinking age... These guys are YOUNG, and unless you are an elite like McDavid or Crosby, you don't light the world on fire at 20 and under...

We have time, the potential is there. Chytil HAS that game breaking ability.

Kravstov is going to be a monster as well
To say Toews has only hit 70 points once, while true, is slightly misleading. He's also had 68 in 76 twice, 69 in 82, 57 in 59, and 48 in 47.

And he's never really primarily played with Patrick Kane.

Andersson is 20. When Toews was 20, he was already captain of Blackhawks with a 34 goal, 69 point season.

Pretty ridiculous comparison.

This is why I was against the McQuaid acquisition. Pionk and ADA should both have permanent spots on the right side. With McQuaid on the sideline, they're both playing. But when he gets healthy, there's only one spot up for grabs and because of that manufactured scarcity you get fans who are overeager to denigrate either player when everyone should just be excited to have two young and talented RHD.

You could not have entered the season with two unproven rookies penciled into your top 6. McQuaid was acquired for his toughness and his lockerroom presence and to help raise the kids.

You ever notice that players with "toughness" somehow magically also have a lockerroom presence? Like there's never a tough guy that people don't say that about. Almost as if it's an empty platitude used by NHL coaches to justify having inferior players in their lineup.

We are literally less than 20 games into the season and if we're going by on-ice performance, he's already clearly the odd-man out on the right side. The Rangers have handcuffed themselves into playing him regardless if we want to get back a 3rd rounder for him at the deadline.

A 3rd rounder isn't a good enough reason to play a player.

Quick, get Chiarelli back on the phone!

I think Zuccha is totally aware of articles in Norwegian newspapers about how the RANGERS and QUINNIE disrespecting him by not visiting and taking for granted his contributions over the years with "hometown discounts" and now looking to move him. Sad.....I can see how he may be hurt.

I`m suprised that Florida field two hockey teams - there are most lakes, rivers, and Tampa Bay beach with water sport activities! And cruise boat from Miami to Bahamas - my good friend did that some years ago, it was worth it by the way for a vacation. :)

Anyway most of the sport journalism in Norway is focused on soccer - there are so many who don`t know the rules and how to play hockey - so what do you expect from a news article in Norway concerning Zucc? Because in soccer they usually reward players for their good effort over the years also by fans.
But the amount of negative posts about Zucc on HF in the recent years in consider he is a veteran player is not deserved in my opinion, and maybe it`s best for his own career to continue with NHL hockey on another team. Not that HF is an important source consider hockey news or interest in general is much larger than this forum.

I agree his camp was really good. He also was playing more of a top six role. Maybe he’s just not a guy who can grind out goals in the bottom six. He doesn’t carry the puck much/well, I guess.
I do think he has good wheels and a good shot and it seems he works hard and is willing to throw the body. Maybe it’s just a matter of time.

This Staal fellow is pretty good. He’s been on our team calendars for years now. If that’s not a testament to his skill, I dont know what is.

Bergeron at 50%, Pasternak at 50% and a first rounder in return, for starters.
Since the Rangers hold all the cards, I would think they could get a bit more. Who else dey got??

Okay, I don't disagree. But I would not be surprised if that's the directive from the front office. They may also be speculating it could be more than a 3rd.

Regardless, I voiced my concerns about the McQuaid trade when it was made and many here tried to reassure that it wasn't bad asset management because we could easily flip him for a profit come the TDL. Forward to today, McQuaid has been sidelined for several games and ADA/Pionk have taken the reins and demonstrated they deserve their spots in the lineup cemented unless one of them falls off a cliff. This is more applicable to ADA as I don't think Pionk is taking a seat again anytime soon. This brings me back to my original point which was McQuaid's presence is ultimately the source of tension between what has become basically two factions of HFNYR with respect to Pionk and ADA.

They Rangers are now in a situation where they're forced to weigh the importance of the potential assets recouped from McQuaid against biting the bullet and giving the ice time to a young defenseman who seems to be coming into his own. I know what I choose, but I'm not overly confident they see it the same way.

Lias is like wine, it gets better with time, otoh Toews is like cocaine, initially one hell of a rush but will kill you eventually. :thumbu:

One man can dream...

Yes I have no idea why so many people on this board keep trash talking Zuccarello, when everywhere else they love him. Zuke chants still going in every rink in the league and so on.

Maybe they should take a note of what Quinn said about him on his return to the lineup:
"Zuke means so much to this team, not only on the ice, but also from a personality perspective. It's great to have him back for sure"

Does this sound like a player they're just waiting to trade? I don't think so...

They say this about basically every player. I have to admit, I'll miss your posts when Zuccarello gets traded at the TDL.

Or propping up his trade value, maybe.
