Prospect Info: 17OA: Axel Sandin Pellikka

4-8 weeks is not terrible. It will hurt his chances at setting records but it shouldn't hurt his development.

I'm more impressed that he played through it. Guy is a warrior.

Huge bummer for ASP. Not only miss out on the gold, but then have to sit for up to a couple months. He had some great momentum going. Hopefully he’ll be able to pick up where he left off.

Really hope ASP is good because Hronek is really, really good

Hronek is about the same as he was here before he got traded. Still a pretty good defender, but getting to play with Hughes has elevated his rep, not necessarily his play. Seen enough of the highlights from Van this season and I see the same player he was here. Lots of good nights and plays, and lots of times where you wonder who he is supposed to be covering. I was and still am a Hronek fan, but I don't believe he is playing a lot better than his final Detroit season.

I read an article it was an upper body injury and he was in a cast.

At least he will be able to do some training.

Sounds like a broken bone and it's 8 weeks. Those are usually not bad. Bones will heal.

You can do skating in training. Build lower-body.

This one?

Now I'm curious about the injury. What kind of injury can you play with that requires a cast afterwards? Broken thumb or hand?

With fingers they usually use a splint. Can't play with a broken wrist or arm. Ribs don't require a cast.

Watched him in January, watched him last year in Basel U18 WC and caught some tape with Skelleftea.
And watched some interviews with him. Obviously an intelligent, calm guy inside and outside the rink. can pass the puck, has vision. can be the PPQB. Skating is decent, hes enough mobile for the league. dont think he will be overwhelmed by the NHL physicallity in 2-3 years. I am very optimistic about him being a 10+ year solid contributor for the contender Wings.

Played last night and finished -1 with 15 TOI.

Our good friend Theodor Niederbach with an assist in two of the past three games.

ASP is doing great. But I cannot believe that a poster on here presupposed that ASP is a better prospect than Edvinsson or Nikishin. Like it’s okay to remove bias.

I think ASP is a better prospect than Edvinsson. It's also hard to compare them both, since they play different styles.

Ed is definitely a more well rounded dman and is still a better prospect. ASP will be our number 1 offensive dman and is not bad defensively he just won't be as effective shutting top guys down like Ed.

Man, I do not like ASP NEARLY as much as you guys (and apparently Craig Button)

Love his shot, but don't see anything else too special.

How much have you watched him play? You can just see his hockey iq is through the roof. It's not just his shot. He's an elite passer with excellent vision, can shoot for tips, can do one timers effectively and has an amazing deadly wrister.

A little bit. I did watch youtube videos of him before the draft, watched more once we drafted him, and have tuned into a few Skelleftea games and watched the World Juniors.

I guess I'll say I don't put that much stock in being a "PP QB" at lower levels. So as he's making decisions who to pass to on the PP and getting assists based on that, I don't particularly project to a high level NHL player.

Passing, vision, and IQ at 5 on 5 are much more important to me, and I haven't seen those as stand out traits in my mind. I guess I would describe it as getting a bit too tunnel visioned on his first option and might force it or be slow to move to option B or C.

Yep. Love his shot. Can do wrist shots, slap shots, and one-timers all effortlessly which leads to high accuracy on high velocity shots.

But no, I am not claiming to be an expert on him or telling anyone that they are wrong. I am not trying to say he'll be a bust. Just not as high on him as others and this is just my opinion in his very young career,
