Still, nice to know he won't be a 5-7th d
Why are you saying he won't be a 5-7th d? There is a non di minims chance he never sticks in the NHL to begin with. Sure he has puck skills, IQ and mobility to play further up the lineup, but there is no guaranty his defensive play progresses or that his game translates to the smaller ice. People should just let him develop at this point. We won't know for a couple of years where he fits on an actual NHL roster.

sure, but you can't ask for a better sign than holding his own in a solid pro league.

I would caution you not to rush to judgment. All prospects come with risks.

You are absolutely right. It is a great sign that he is playing well in the SHL in his D+1 year. You just need to resist the temptation of reading too much into it. His future as an NHL player will be determined by his ability to defend at his size. That is where you want to see the growth.

So far he is .5 points per game, pretty much Raymond numbers in his d+1

I'm going to keep a running comparison of ASP v. Dvorsky in the SHL for fun.

So far through 4 games.. ASP 2-0-2, Dvorsky 0-0-0.

ASP wins!

It’s promising but also super early in the season. By the 20 game mark I think we’ll have a better gauge on his development this year.

Hirose had a point in his first 5 NHL games, 7 in first 9, and 0.7ppg average for the season. Superstar.

I hope you know I was being extremely tongue in cheek (though if we had drafted Dvorsky, I'm pretty sure a lot of people would be freaking out right now)

Sandin Pellikka scored tonight for the third consecutive game. Last 18yo player to do that i the SHL was Mattias Öhlund in 1997.

You obviously don't understand. ASP is Lidstrom-lite. They are already taking pictures together as he potentially adopts him as his new kin.

The train is about to leave my man, you gotta jump on or you will be left behind and we don't need anyone being left behind. We need to be one unit.

Barring injury, this future defense group could be special. And, all drafted by Yzerman.
