Have you watched Tampa at all this year? Mac has been one of the best defenseman in the league this season. No surprise he got his game back now that he has got the AV stink off of him.

I’ll respectfully disagree on the McD take.

I think he’s looked good and looked very mediocre in equal measure.

I also think an upswing in his play also has a lot to do with him not having to be the guy on defense. Which is exactly what he’d have to be on here.

Pionk can do a lot, but ADA's upside is enormous - watch his poise with the puck. He'll hold, and fake, and hold, and skate back, and hold, always uses space properly and doesn't panic when not under actual pressure.

Only the greats in this game do that. That one aspect of his game is elite level, HOF level. That's probably enough to make him an all-star at some point if he can not punch a mascot or Gary Bettman or something.

Yeah, I'd still take ADA's ceiling over Pionk's, don't get me wrong. I just don't think Pionk is a lost cause because he has glaring defensive issues. He's a patch in his game away from being a much more effective player.

And if ADA punched Bettman, then it's a safe bet he would get voted into every ASG by the fans until he hung up the skates.

I thought the isles would improve without JT. I even posted on their boards about it. BARZAL >> TAVARES. I am not a big fan of tavares. Slow and soft.

Barzal is a fast and soft. And has a muffin shot and doesn't take a lot of shots in general. He gets a lot of assists but he's pretty one dimensional. Tavares is a better player. However Barzal has a lot of room to grow and is a lot younger and cheaper than JT so its not THAT devastating for the Isles. If JT left and their best remaining center was Brock Nelson, then they'd be f***ed.
