I think that because his metrics are so bad, there's a very vocal group which polarizes opinions a little more.

Personally, I think his upside is comparable to ADA's, and that he has a similar amount of development to go in order to reach it; but I find myself criticizing Pionk more often because of the opposing opinions that he is already this established top4 NHLer.

And I disagree with that assertion; he has just as far to go as ADA does, it's just that his weaknesses aren't as apparent.

Metrics are great, because people incessently bitch about Shattenkirk and how he looks terrible but he has our best Corsi and best corsirel

Have you watched Tampa at all this year? Mac has been one of the best defenseman in the league this season. No surprise he got his game back now that he has got the AV stink off of him.

Pionk can do a lot, but ADA's upside is enormous - watch his poise with the puck. He'll hold, and fake, and hold, and skate back, and hold, always uses space properly and doesn't panic when not under actual pressure.

Only the greats in this game do that. That one aspect of his game is elite level, HOF level. That's probably enough to make him an all-star at some point if he can not punch a mascot or Gary Bettman or something.

When Andersson was on, he looked tenacious. Chytil looked like he was playing a little more physically, too.

The funny thing is that it almost comes off as relentless. Like people are subconsciously rooting against the kid because he wasn’t drafted by us, and we didn’t spent 4 years daydreaming about what he might become.

It doesn’t come off as analytical. After a while it comes off as petty. Like the whole point is to somehow “prove” how bad Pionk is. And that pettiness seems to grow as he keeps putting up points and succeeding.

I think deep down, it really pisses them off.

The Knicks have been tanking since Ewing left and it's gotten them nowhere. The giants are a shit show of mismanagement across the board. They will draft a QB and he will fail because the trenches are trash.
