Wasn't only that. One factor. The other was he as on an expiring contract and it was publicly known he was going to be head coach of Frolunda next season.

This kind of stuff going on is why I wanted him in GR. At the very least if they fire a coach down there, they can still have some control over his minutes and role. Right now, MBN is starting slow offensively and now the coach is gone. Its not an ideal situation at all. He could end up with a coach that throws him on the fourth line the rest of the seasn

coaching change is just as likely to work in MBN’s favor. Ohlsson was stubborn to use neither him or ASP as shooters on the PP, that’s an obvious move for a new coach.

I have no issues with him wanting to stay and play in Sweden. I'm also not convinced his role/production would be much different if he was in GR.

Even if the coach was an idiot I can't say I've been impressed with MBN so far. He's not mature enough for SHL. Don't think at an high enough level yet. I'd loan him further down for a spell in Allsvenskan at this point.

Peeps saying it wouldve been better if he was in GR are out to lunch. He would be in the ECHL with his play and I wouldn't want him there.

Doesn't the SHL have rules about midseason transfers even for players on loan? There were various rules mentioned during COVID, I don't remember any of them.

I believe they couldn't sign someone because of that.

He can leave Sweden whenever the season is over for his team over there. So, you can hope for his team to miss the playoffs. He might still stay over there, though, since they could prefer for him to join the Norwegian national team which will start practising and playing warm up games leading up to the World Championship.

He's on pace for a 20-point season. His underlying stats have been good from day one and his first two goals were the kind that the really good NHL scorers pull off, unstoppable shots. .Only three U20 players last season had 20 or more points, only Lekkerimaki a significant amount more than that (31). Lekkerimaki was a mid-first round selection in 2022, fans got all hot and bothered (for nothing) by subsequent modest season in Allsvenskan (nine points). Came over to AHL at end of last season for a few games, this year started in AHL, now with Canucks and recently scored first goal. MBN will follow same path, possibly starting with coming over at the end of this SHL season for a few games, maybe a long playoff run. If he'd started this season in GR, he'd probably be up this year at some point, which is why they wanted him to start in GR. They know he's not going to need much time.

I'm looking at the projected roster for next season, and I think MBN makes the team just because everyone else sucks.

No more garbage UFA signings next season. Stevie needs to target legit top 6 forwards and top 4 D, and if those aren't available just play the kids. Half the roster is just garbage now.
