Yzerman having five rookies on the team at once is impossible for me to fathom.

I can kinda see there being 3-4. He did a bunch of 1-2 year deals this offseason for a reason.

I don't think there's any chance they let ASP play without being on small ice in GR first, but I can see MBN being fast tracked. Danielson should be knocking on the door. It should be the first real opportunity for Mazur to get in there permanently too. And unless the wheels absolutely fall off, Cossa would probably be spinning his wheels to spend another year in GR at that point.

It would be great to get ASP over for the AHL playoffs and maybe expedite things

The more I watch him, the more I see Freddy Modin

A 30+goal power forward who won a cup. I'll take it.

Fair enough.

I think they play the game very different though. MBN has a lot more range than Modin did, if my memory serves correct. He also has better stickhandling. Modin was a solid player but I think MBN has the potential to be even better.

I had to go look up highlight videos. I found this clip and it really freaked me out because it's the Wings 2009 completing passes. It felt really odd watching this video. It's been so long I forgot the Wings use to be good, wow!

He faded in Columbus, but I watched his career in Tampa and he was a beast in his prime

What's special about MBN is his incredible physique, and he's only 19. His teammates said he eats like a horse. No wonder their bus left him behind, had to turn around, and they found him still in the restaurant lol
my hockey team did this to a poor guy at a food stop in Eastern Europe ~91.. Completely forgot him, drove an hour and had to turn around... No cell phones nothing.. apparently he was in the bathroom when we left...

Must have been a crowded and noisy bus for no one to notice. Funny story.
We were in (at the time) Czechoslovakia.. team bus... it was a 2 week tour of all Eastern European pro teams (10 in total).

We made a stop at a highway pit, were there maybe 30 min...
Everyone got back on the tour bus, and drove off - but we forgot "lachy".. lol

1 hour in, we're like wait!!! Wheres Lach? Holy shit!! We gotta turn back.

Basically 2 hours later we arrive back at the stop, and Lachy is just sitting at a picnic table. He had no money or wallet.. he's like; Tabernac (he was from Thetford Mines, northern QC) i thought you guys left me for good -- i was going to call my mom but i didn't know how to use the payphone!! Lol

Needless to say, he was a Black Ace but def dressed for the game that night!! He was pretty shook.

Hilarious. i was going to say earlier that he must not have been one of the team's best players. 'Tabernac' lol. What a trip that must have been, not long after November 1989. There wouldn't have been many touring teams from NA prior to yours going to Eastern Euro countries.

We were just a college team and ended up spliting the games.. most of the games were fairly close - really good crowds too, like a couple thousand per game..
Each team hosted a dinner/party with us afterwards.. we were in horrific shape after a week. Lol

Well worth it though for the memories. If you're interested in unusual hockey adventures, I recommend a book written by a guy I know, Dave Bidini. "Tropic of Hockey".

Guy reminds me of Makar so much but I have to taper my excitement...

You are not alone. I am not there with your group, but damn do I want to be wrong about this guy. ASP was left in Sweden D1 and D2. The usual, bigger, stronger become a man natural maturity. Some of that is learning to play D against men. You won't see many highlights of him actually playing defense. That said, ASP won't be 20 until March of 25. Still, the talk is he will spend no less than 1 year in GR. Makar entered the NHL at 19 and was an immediate 21 minutes per game player. < Dude had 50 points as a rookie d'man. Insane.

For me, I still wonder if that offense will translate and if he can play D effectively enough to placed on the ice for a defensive zone face off.
