With Babcock gone I wonder if we get to see Larkin sooner or better yet, if he get's more chances offensively. Watched a few highlights the other day and his skating is out of this world. The last time we had an elite player that skated like that was Fedorov :amazed:

Athanasiou is no slouch either though.

Don't get me all giddy inside!!!

A line of AA-Larkin-Helm would be a dream to watch and a nightmare for opposing teams.

Maybe he sees a bit of an opening here playing for Blashill already before heading into camp. I assume he gets to play.

Yeah, if he steps in and looks good in GR after his great year at UM and his impressive performance at the worlds, I wouldn't be surprised to see him contending for a spot in camp. I think it mostly depends on Holland's ability, or willingness, to clear the roster a bit.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Larkin's ELC will slide if he doesn't play 9 games in the NHL next year right? If that is the case then I really doubt we see Larkin in the NHL unless he really blows the AHL away. We'd get far more value out of his 20, 21, & 22 seasons than his 19, 20, & 21 seasons.

It would be a tough decision for me as Larkin. I am not sure I would want to gamble on being in the AHL until 23. I would probably stick it out at UoM, get my degree and party my socks off rather than be stuck in the AHL for the next 4-5 years. It would at least be crossing my mind after Nyquist.

What does "big trade coming" mean? For Michigan? Or DRW?
He means for DRW, but I don't think he has an source on this. He's just saying that Detroit has a logjam at forward, and they would have to trade players to resolve it.

But if you think Larkin and friends will be in GR next year, there isn't much of a logjam, and thus no reason to trade.

Honest question, does anyone think this happens if Babs is still our coach?

What i mean to say is, do you think Larkin sees an opportunity to play for, and hopefully impress the next red wings coach?

Sure. I think Larkin goes pro regardless - if Babcock had signed for 5 years what incentive would Larkin have to stay in College that he doesn't have now?

It makes perfect sense to work with Blashill now and get foot in the door for training camp.
