I think Larkin will go pro. He's being asked to play more minutes a game and a larger role than several current NHL forwards. Against Denmark, he was 3rd in ice time and played more minutes in the 3rd than any other forward.

The more I watch him the more I think his floor is #2 C. He just has it all.

Okay, let's not hype him too much ;) But i really do think that he can be a great top-6 center, and possibly even elite. Saying his floor is #2C is maybe overhyping, heh.

yeah I guess high end #3 is safer. Though watching him at 19 against men and covering Kopitar gives me a good feeling.

He's 18 until the end of June and there was a decent amount of chasing Kopitar from what I saw but yeah he has looked very good in the tournament for his first time vs pros.

And I've seen his weight listed as high as 214 lol. That's quite the discrepancy in weight.

The Michigan hockey website lists him as 6'1 and 190 pounds and I'd think they are the most likely site to have somewhat current info given he just completed his freshman season. So it's fairly reasonable to assume that is an accurate height and weight for him. I would find it tough to believe he's either 170 or 215. If he was 215 it would likely impact his skating as it would almost assuredly be bad weight.

At the combine last summer his official height and weight was listed as 6'0.75" and 190 lbs. So yeah, he's definitely not 172 lbs.

The people in the 190 to 210 range when they are 5'11 to Six'2 just seems like the Average hockey player should be

Probably his poorest game of the tournament. Not bad, just relative to the other ones I didn't think he was quite as good today.

Agreed, he wasn't as good as he was the other day. In all fairness, he was just buzzing all game long against Denmark though. I can't comment on every game as I've only seen parts of the Russia and Belarus games. He also had new linemates and some tough matchups, most notably against Kopitar. At 18 years old he kept up, which is frickin amazing. If that was one of his "poor" performances, he is gonna be very, very, very (doing my best Jimmy D impression :naughty:) good for us.

They thought enough of him to match him quite a bit with Kopitar. I'm not sure if he played bad or if it was just that he was going against Kopitar and he has little chance in that scenario at this stage of his career.

19, he turned 18 last summer or else he wouldn't have been draft eligible.

No, Anchor Town is right, his birthday is 7-30-96. I just looked it up because I thought the same thing when you mentioned it, but apparently the rule is the player has to be 18 on or before September 15th. To put that in perspective, he's less than three months older than Eichel.

Edit: And it looks like that was what you were trying to say, so nevermind. Reading comprehension ftw :thumbu:
