Like who?

Ownership made it clear they're not spending more.

It's three weeks into the season. It's not like there is a pitching tree out back they can go and pick to replace these guys.

They have two choices: go with the guys they have and hope for the best or blow it up and bring up the kids.

Its more a criticism of AA's tenure of going after guys like Morrow, Dickey and Happ.

I mean really, the only reason we have Buerhle is because he was a salary dump in the Miami trade and if AA had a choice, he would probably of preferred to keep Marisnick over getting Buerhle since Marisnick is really fast and maybe some day will learn to hit even though all evidence to date shows that he wont.

It is worth noting that AA is first and foremost a scout and scouts drool over the possibilities of raw power/speed. As such you see things like a fundamentally flawed player like JP Arencibia playing because he has the potential to hit 30HR rather then someone without a standout "tool" who is a better all round player.

What separates a good/average team (like this one is) and a great one (which this team is trying to become), is the ability to illicit the confidence that they will pull out a comeback in the late stages when down a couple runs. Unfortunately, even with the bases loaded, a game-ending double play was on my mind more than a bases clearing double.

Games like this happen. Just need to eke a few out to have them end up on the other side of the ledger.

No, its consistency.

Great teams will play good defense, put together good at bats and throw strikes on a consistent basis and thus force the opposition to beat them rather then beat themselves. The Jays are not a team like that as we struggle to pitch consistently and our offense doesn't capitalize on opportunities to score runs when we have runners on base hitting well below the teams offensive averages when we have runners on. Until the Jays start putting together 100% efforts every game you will see us throw games away like we have over the past 2 weeks.

Come on why do the Blue Jays always have to be a near .500 team every year and just end up being the worst of a competitive division?

Haven't any of you seen enough of the playoffs missed? I know it's early but this is just a joke. Never have I lived to see the Jays in playoffs, srsly.

I believe Hutchison is throwing a circle change-up and throwing it to RHB which is diving down and in to their bats. I always found it odd Ricky never used his best pitch (circle change-up) on lefties.

Another 95 on the corner. Hutchison is nasty tonight.

Hutch and Buerhle are the only two starts I actively look forward to watching. The rest make me nervous. With those two you know theyre going to go out and give you a chance almost every game.

Navarro got a HR this season before Arencibia.

EDIT:

Just to pile on, JP has a -0.4 WAR already this season.

For reference, his historically all-time awful season last year at the plate got him just a -0.6 WAR for the season. So he's already 2/3rds of the way there and we're not even 1/4 of the way into the season yet.

Man Navarro was a great pickup. JP would've been sat down instantly after that 0-2 count. Great off season aquisition

Wish Lawrie was better protected in the lineup, might help bump that avg up a bit. But how could you justify it with Melky hitting how he is, then JB and EE are mandatory 3/4

He has to work on things himself and earn the right to be put in that kind of position. Right now he is failing.
