So because its hard at the draft its ok that we have what looks like not 1 impact bat in the system and 2 pitchers (one with command issues) to show for it despite having the largest scouting staff in the game?

You could say the system looks like **** or it could look like gold, fact remains that the draft is a crapshoot. If 20% of those picks make it to the show, then you succeeded.

Development is a huge part of success, and there's a few players that are showing the potential of having an impact bat right now. Nay for one, and some guys currently with Dunedin. They may never get there, and they may never have been pegged as being something great, but that's what makes baseball.

That was a nice double play. Now if we can put on a couple for Lawrie he can do something else nice.

Yay, Diaz for the bases loaded! Good thing we have that 8th man in the pen right now to watch this! :sarcasm:

And if Gibbons hadn't used his entire bench earlier it would have been Goins up there. A leftie rightie match up.

and if AA had a 7 man pen like the rest of baseball, Gibbons would of had the extra bat for that situation.

Agree, but they can't really do that when four out of five starters can't pitch more than 5 innings.

Then maybe we should be looking for some pitchers who throw strikes rather then these amazing "stuff" guys who could give even JP a walk and burn through 100 pitches in 4 innings.

Like who?

Ownership made it clear they're not spending more.

It's three weeks into the season. It's not like there is a pitching tree out back they can go and pick to replace these guys.

They have two choices: go with the guys they have and hope for the best or blow it up and bring up the kids.
