Question: is the KHL weaker this season? Has there been an exodus of foreign players?
Only of foreign players from European countries, there was a slight uptick in North American players.

The drop in European players also reflects the Finnish and Latvian KHL teams leaving the league.

Canadian Government: Hey fellow Canadian bro's! its not jive to play in Russia.

Canadian players in KHL: So are you going to pay for our loss in revenue then?

Canadian Government: *hangs up phone*

There are European players in the KHL. With the 6 Swedes & 1 Finn it’s just few fringier guys because they now can’t play on the National team (for sure) and perhaps teams their local leagues would be unenthusiastic about hiring them in future (unsure about that & pure conjecture by me).

It’s a bit shocking to see 2 Latvians still there, and these are guys from their Olympic team, but it’s a living I guess.

I don’t know if North American players face a downside other than being judged some people.

A good percentage of NA are playing for the teams not in Russia (Kunlun Red Star in China, Dinamo Minsk in Belarus and Barys Astana in Kazakhstan). That might be just because that’s where the jobs are.

It’s easy to be judgmental when it’s someone else’s livelihood.

Grits' numbers are a bit low so far, but it's early. It would be nice to get another later round steal. Hopefully he will indeed come over.

Im less worried about the cold streak than the fact that's moving down the lineup. You can tell yourself stories about why that is happening, but the most likely reason is he has not taken another step as hoped.

Their top center Knight is injured and, going by their record, his team kind of sucks now. It’s only been 16 games but they only play 62 regular season games and they just lost 0-4 to Kunlun.

It would be tough for Avangard Omsk to not make the playoffs since 8 teams make it and 3 teams don’t this season. They’re in the 8th playoff spot in their conference which is pretty ugly.

They lost their main scoring defenseman Oliwer Kaski, who’s Finnish, and one of their main forwards, the Slovakian Peter Cehlarik, to the NL for obvious reasons.

I’m certainly disappointed and it’s frustrating that none of his shots are going it, but his whole team is slumping. People who saw him as a Kaprizov were overrating him, he’s not a dynamic play driving superstar. He’s more of a crafty hard worker with a nice shot.

Maybe if his team continues to suck he’ll be more inclined to come over, who knows.

Edit: Accidentally posted too soon!

Grits with 1 SOG and no points in 12 minutes of ice time in his teams 6-0 win today.

Unfortunately this isn’t the point growth we were hoping to see.

disappointing step back for him, i guess we can't bank on him stepping into a top 6 role after all

I'm curious as to where it is that you draw the line when it comes to making money.

Because it's easy to be dismissive of others opinions if you have few scruples when it comes to making a buck.

Why are you grabbing something posted long enough ago I can't remember the context? That's a pretty personal question for a Grisyuk thread. Short answer is I am curious why you think it is ok for anonymous social media to define how someone should make money. If you actually care and not just trying to make some sort of gotcha point feel free to send me a private message.

Go Gritsyuk!!!

Things didn't go well right from the start of the season and going worser through the season.
This is his last year of actual deal, hope he isn't exited about how things going, he was intrigued by his potential nhl career before, one year of ahl would be good for him to adapt his game, at least playing some games.
He should work on some aspects of his game and it effect hardly this season. And bad starting overall.

I still think he’s got a lot of potential, but he’s stalled out or regressed. Change of pace coming to NA next year might help or it might not but I’d like to see how he does in the A for a year
