C'mon guys. 6 of you chose to respond to a troll post instead of reporting it. You see someone doing something they shouldn't? report it. Quoting it and telling the guy to "go away" or something like that doesn't do anything except make more work for us mods.

explain this to me ...? every team gets the same number of shots no?

Think about it. After the first shot the shooter either scores or doesn't score.

So:

1. Score! The opposing team now has to score at least two goals to win the game.

2. Didn't score. The opposing team has to score at least one goal to win the game.

Now although it is true, that if the team doesn't score the slight edge the team had by going first is transferred to the opposing team. However it is still the same edge they would have had if they were allowed to go first.

Nice winner by Patty, but I was secretly hoping it would go to 4 round so we could see Jumbo troll everybody in the shootout again.

Ehrmergahd ter pernts!!!

just got home to see last minute of the 3rd. Nice goal by Pavs and a really well played OT and good SO win. A win is a win is a win!

Still not seeing it. I mean each team gets, ostensibly, 3 equal chances to score, then an equal chance each after that. The only time they are unequal is when the game cannot be won by scoring on the last chances, but that is not denying the other team the same chance to win the game.

I like how the Sharks didn't give up and fold when they pulled the goalie, especially after the first clear. Marleau had a great game today and I thought he should have been first star with Thornton and Burns taking 2 and 3.

Nice comeback and exciting game.

But please give Nemo a few games off. He has the most minutes of any goalie in the nhl - he is getting burnt out and letting in pissweak goals

Niemi has a decent ability to stop shots in close, but it seems like any point shot that gets on net will go through. Maybe it's fatigue but whatever the reason is he's not exactly giving the group confidence like he did last year.

You are forgetting about variable change. The variables change after every shot. This is probably the best and most basic explanation of what variable change is.

The easiest way to put it is if you go first and score the odds of the other team winning has dramatically decreased. If you miss your odds of winning have decreased but to a lessor extent.

I called out Couture, Burns and Thornton in the Hertl thread..3pts for Jt, 3pts for Burns, GWG SO for Cooch. Good job boys.

Fun game.

That was a fun game. I remember in the last few years watching the Avs would be kind of boring. Whatever Roy is doing it's working because that has turned into a fun, fast team. There were stretches in this game where the game was going at such a quick pace it felt like something you would see in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind a playoff series between the Avs and Sharks. That could be an exciting 6 gamer.

Also, much better lines tonight. I love Pavelski on the same line as Burns and Thornton. At least now he might get more goals this way.
