Speculation: 12/13' Trades/Proposals: Short season is better than none, now for trades.

IMO, Thornton seems to slow down the play when he controls the puck. He's a gifted playmaker, but I'm not sure that is off the rush. I have concerns about chemistry between Joe and Phil.

Unless we're looking more at:

JVR-Joe-Kulemin (kind of like Mozyakin-Malkin-Kulemin)

Wouldn't mind it eitherway he's a great piece to have in this team, would possibly give us our first true first line center since sundin? I think with kessel he can pick up the pace tbh I wouldn't be too worried.
 
Doesn't JT have a NMC?

He's alot tougher than he gets credit for aswell. Has an edge. I just don't know how pumped up I'd be about acquiring a 33 year old, especially at the potential cost.

Any source who cant even get the right GM for the right team is no source at all...

Wilson is the GM of the Sharks... Lombardi is LA's...
 
The year

If Brian burke is to get the leafs to the playoffs or win the cup this has to be his year, I feel he should be aggressive in the trade market trying to land a true number 1 center and a true number one goaltender.

Something to that effect... I mean if the leafs give up 2 firsts for kessel why not for a marquee number 1 center..

This also frees up the log jam on defense alittle, also gets kadri in a new system as I don't see him fitting the leafs system of playing " truculent hockey"

You do not trade away this years first round pick in what people are saying can be as deep or even better then the 2003 draft. Keep those picks play this year out and lets see what we have and then in the off season we can make splashes if we need to but making a trade like this harms us deeply in the future

Thanks that's obvious, my discussion is about this being the year or burkes ass is out the door for leafs fans... It's a short season and how he should take advantage and expend all resources to " win now"

i dont think it's Burkes ass at all this year... He has this season and next IMHO...

MLSE isn't going to fire a guy that helped design this new CBA... This new CBA fits perfectly to the way Burke conducts business... Not only do i think he has 2 years to make the playoff BUT i think we have a HUGE advantage with Burke over the next 8-10 years.

Patience with Burke is the key to success! He has made good trades, good draft picks and added good prospects. He never caved under the pressure of the Toronto media and fan base to sign one of those stupid contracts that are now going to haunt every team that did.
 
i think it would take 2 1st picks + to get Getzlaf or whoever
unless you like the idea of trading gardiner

i'm ok with trading two 1sts if it makes us a true contender

I think if Rielly proves himself out of camp, I'd be more open to trading Gardiner.

No one is trading that for a guy with 1 year left on his deal.

The FA class is good next year... with the likes of Getzlaf and Perry. This is a year to progress, get some playoff games under our belt and then strengthen the lineup significantly next year.

But we need goaltending to win.
