Anyway...

Boyle is chirping...

@TheBruinsBlog Brian Boyle on 3rd straight healthy scratch:"It’s infuriating sitting out, it’s awful. And it’s pissing me off a lot”

It happens. Boyle doesn't strike me as this type of guy.

You don't have to explain yourself, your user name says it all...:sarcasm:

This is good for Boyle, when he gets back and is on the 4th line, he's going to come out and play with a vengeance. That is the type of Boyle we need in this lineup.

He's too big to play as soft as he does.

I took the quotes as him just itching to get back in the lineup. Nothing wrong with it IMO. I'd be more worried if he wasn't mad about sitting out. He knows his play up until that point led to the benching and he can't expect to get back into the lineup after two games like the Rangers just played.

Glad Boyle said what he did. Hope that fire under his ass keeps burning. I want to see him come back in the lineup pissed.

Oh, I'm so glad they scratched Boyle again. I'm not the one who likes to change things when we're winning. Until someone ****s up, I'm fine with keeping Boyle out.

LGR!

This made me lol.

Anywho, yeah i think Boyle is just trying to show that he's getting motivated and angry at himself for his recent play, or lack thereof. He's trying to get back into the line up, but with Miller playing well and Asham sniping like Ovechkin in his prime (relax kiddos, that was sarcasm) he'll find that fire under his ass is burning for longer than he had hoped.

I don't really care much about Boston but we need this... the team needs this. Get a streak going, prove we've got it and that we can have it against even really good teams.

his hits are more like rubs and hes the one that usually falls down

Boyle has his own reality distortion field. It's continually amazing to me how much people hate the guy for the effort he's given over the last few years. He's 6-7 and when he fights he folds like a cotton short sleeve. It's also true that he falls a lot. I find myself getting frustrated as well. But he's also laid out some pretty good hits. From my days of playing hockey, I can honestly say that I felt it when I hit people. Boyle hit 236 people last year. Don't get the hate. Never have.

If I may add…. I remember a couple of years ago him getting 20+ goals when Gabby was hurt and we needed someone to step up….. Him and Pruster on the PK over and over again… How many 90 MPH pucks did he step into and block? To say he’s a POS if not only incorrect but shows a lack of respect for what he has done for this team….. to me you sound like a bunch of spoiled kids…. But whatever……. :shakehead

LGR!

y'all are making too big of a deal about this boyle statement. let it go. guy is upset, naturally. people have emotions.

the only thing the quote tells me is that he seems to have gotten the message and will work his ass off the rest of the way. if not he'll be unhappy riding the pine.

With Boyle, I think it's a similar situation to what Dubinsky dealt with last year: timing. Dubinsky couldn't afford to **** the bed offensively immediately after signing a big money contract with a team that was limited offensively.

Boyle couldn't afford to start out this slow during a lockout-shortened season (where the team also started off slow) when his role heading into the year may have been a little too big (undesirable 3C vs desirable 4C). If he started out average this year, but was poor from games 22-30, he probably doesn't get benched.

Boyle could score 0 goals, and his defensive play and PK would be decent justification for his salary. 1.7 million is next to nothing. Now if the time comes where we think the difference between 850k and 1.7 million will allow us to keep Gaborik, or Girardi? Sure. But not right now.

Halpern has shown a good bit here, but he is 36 and will not be around indefinitely.
