How are we not losing yet? (not watching the game) is miller playing really well or are the islanders terrible at finishing?
BTW it was the third line with Kreider and Callahan; a little difference in talent there, no? His second goal was also a PP tally.
Those were the days... sigh.
Shots are 22-4
Speaking of sitting:
Mikhail Grigorenko has played 1:25 so far
One of my biggest concerns with the Sabres entering the season was lack of team speed. People can badmouth Afinogenov all they want, but he was a valuable asset with his ability to back-off the defense and create space/opportunities for himself and his teammates. This team desperate needs someone like that. A burner that keeps the defense honest...Sans the tenendcy to over-stickhandle and turn the puck over of course.
In like the last 4 games, we've had period with no shots of over 20 minutes twice, and this current one of over 15.
The system is NOT WORKING.
I doubt Vanek or Miller re-sign for 5 more years of this crap show.
...that means the system IS working
Play a collapse style defense (just without big tough defensemen to clear the front of the net or defensively aware forwards to break up passes) so that we both give up tons of shots AND rebound chances. Then when we get the puck we're too gassed to do anything but get to center, shoot it in, and change lines

Isn't that Ennis?
That's a shame, because they are carrying the team in this game. Thought experiment: What would the sabres record be without those 2 players?
I say 1 - 9 - 1, win coming against the flyers.
