That's awesome dude. I have no kids, and no regrets about that, but that is one aspect I know I would have loved.

My first job was working for my dad doing roofing. We still work together at times these days. He drives me nuts sometimes, but I will always be grateful that I learned (some) tradework from him.

And at the risk of sounding old, the idea of a kid these days being into power tools and not (just) screens, is a good thing IMO

The screens thing is a hard balance because they need tech skill. We are real careful about what she does on those. Stuff like Roblox is crack.

I feel you, Bif. We do the same thing with my kid.

Last night, I supervised my 4-year old drill a bunch of holes into wood with a battery powered drill (I held his hand while he used the drill). Then, I gave my 4 year old a tap and die set to create threads, just for something to do. He loves to use tools. I don't give him anything that's going to hurt him, no knifes or saws. He's been helping me use my drill since he was 2.

He bakes with my wife and we let him cook eggs with us as well (We don't let him cook by himself, we're always watching him when we cook. My wife's grandfather made him this wooden step stool where he can work with us in the kitchen.

Get them involved early.

Who doesn't love revving a drill? It's a great intro tool. Especially because hammers are too heavy for them to safely use for a while.

One thing I like about hand tools is that with a very few exceptions, like a striking knife or a chisel, as soon as someone can physically manage a hand tool, they can learn to use it safely. Even a handsaw is pretty safe once a child has the manual dexterity and strength to put it on the lumber where they want to cut. Power tools are a different animal, some adults still can't be trusted with them. And chisels are the devil if you're paring with them.

In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the billionaire said a payment system was the only way to counter bots.
"We're moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the system," the Tesla and SpaceX boss said.
The BBC approached X for further details but has not yet received a statement from the company.

Please do this immediately. Nothing would lead to the abandonment of Twitter more that having anyone who wants to use it has to pay a fee.

I just want one of the alternates to emerge so I can completely abandon X.

Elon and his minions at X just finally un-permabanned me today out of nowhere...had been that way since Halloween of 2020 lol

Still, i'm hoping Threads starts to duplicate and even improve on the functionality of X so it crushes it over time.

"hey there Municipality, is it ok if I put a fence around my backyard? Should cost us around $12k"

"Yeah that's fine, that'll be $100"

"Wait what? The fencing company told me it'll be like $12,000"

"Hahaha no it costs $100 to ask us if you're allowed to put a fence up"

I love it
Oh, it'll cost you more than $100 to satisfy the town's requirements, almost guaranteed. Did they mention needing a survey yet?

We go to Home Depot once a month and pick up their kid crafts. I bought the kids each a set of kid sized actual tools and they have a blast using the hammer and screw driver.

Yo where the f*** do I find this in store. Because I might go tonight. It's an error because I can't think straight enough to do the right things, but here we are.

Besides the basic laundry room shelves, we have a large nook/shrine area that could stand to use a shelf and I think I want to piece together a floating shelf to add a second level to it.

It’s a monthly event. Check the website, and set your local store to your store to make sure they have it in your area. The kids are free. You get a Home Depot smock for the kids. You are not required to do it in the store, we don’t.
They have some kids craft stuff but it’s always tucked away at some weird end cap for about $10.
