I knew I was gonna have it, that's what I was most scared of with this whole procedure because I'd read all the horror stories online. It was originally scheduled to be removed after 10 days, but after the procedure it appears it's been pushed back to six days so hopefully it's just less than a week of that misery. I feel it in my penis every time I move! Hopefully the pelvic/hip/back pain stays mild and doesn't escalate once my meds wear off... I've read of people saying their stent hurt worse than their stone.
My dad had an enlarged prostate....the size of a softball. He had that torture device inserted a few times...each time I thought he was placed in an iron maiden. I fear the same fate....prostate issues on his side of the family.

I don't have a string with my stent. They wound up being able to pull it out in tact so they didn't have to do lithotripsy either, just the scope.

And I will say anesthesia was a surreal experience. One second I'm telling the techs and nurses what my job is, the next I'm waking up in post op.

It's insane. It's time travel to the future. And I didn't really do "waking up." I was already awake, I just wasn't lucid/aware, and the awareness snapped into place.

Sorry to hear that man.

As I mentioned before, it's been a shit year for us:

My mom passed in November.
My wife's grandmother on her mom's side passed in December.
Wife got run over by a heard of deer in March
Wife also full down our icy stairs on her ass in March
We had the wildfires that we had to pack for evacuation for in late May/early June
I hurt my back in June bad enough getting on/off the toilet hurt for 2 weeks
We had the flood in July

And last Wednesday, my wife's Grandfather on her Dad's side passed. Funeral was yesterday. She still had GParents alive both aged 93 and I have 1 aged 87. So likely things are going to keep happening.

As we turn to August, we both have our birthdays as well as our 10 year anniversary. A month or a few months of calm sure would be nice.
You guys have to be due for something good to happen. I’m hoping it’s something extremely good.

Some epic good news in the war against cancer...

Very promising inroad....

From the Daily Heil but reports legit source of the breakthrough.

Life is cruel.

My brother and I have followed very similar paths in life, engaged months apart, married months apart, had kids months apart, and many others.

Well we got another kick in the dick similarity. His father-in-law just passed away up in Buffalo which comes just two months after HCette's dad passed away.

Our paternal grandfather died long before either of us were alive and our maternal grandfather died when I was like 3 or 4. So the long story short is that now our own kids won't have a grandfather on either side and it's a real shitty feeling. Now in the back of my head it's started my own clock of mortality which has never been there.
sorry to hear hc

We need to start using the mRNA and Crispr technologies asap. With how urgently we treated Covid, we should be putting in similar effort into ending cancer.

One of my sinus surgeries, apparently woke up post op and continued telling the story that I was relating when the put me under. Like my brain just hit pause and then continued when I awoke an hour later.

I didn't know if I should post this here or in the Roster thread but the store-bought birthday card I received recently (you don't get my birth date that easily, AI!!!) said "Dad, I wouldn't trade you for the world ... [inside] I mean, maybe if our family were in a rebuilding year, and we could get some great, young prospects ... But I'd definitely re-sign you as soon as I could. And I mean that."

I think he's growing up rather well.

Sorry to hear that, man. My Maternal grandfather passed when I was very young. I was the only grandkid he ever saw, and I have one very vague memory of getting family photos with him. My dad's pop went when I was in my very early teens.

I couldn't imagine not having my grandmoms though, especially my mom's mom. A true matriarch and amazing woman. She just passed a couple years ago. My dad's mom is still around and still pretty lucid. At least they both got to see quite a few of their great grandkids. Again, sorry for the loss.

I really wonder how the vaccine contrarians who may get cancer will respond if there is an mRNA drug like this potential one? Are they gonna say "I will not be injected with a poison" when their body is basically poisoned by cancer?

We're going to have to drive up to Buffalo for this funeral and this of course is HCette's one week out of the year where she's "on call" for her job so she needs internet access. I'm looking into mobile hotspots through Verizon but have absolutely no idea what i'm looking at.

I saw the best reviewed one (and most expensive) though Verizon is the Orbic Speed 5G UW. I just have absolutely no concept of what the plans are because it would be through a business plan and it only offers 5-10GB of data which seems rough.

Would a iPhone hotspot get the job done? Should we get the hotspot that comes in her car (Audi)?

She's super stressed about this and it's kind of above my mental capacity at the moment.

I don’t know a ton about this, but I’m reading now.

What type of device (laptop, phone, etc) does she need to use for work? Would the connection have to handle live video/voice calls?

*Edit* Before I forget, you also get hotspot usage for free with XFINITY. Here’s a map you can check for availability: https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/network/map

Can you do a trial run using your phone and see if it can handle what she needs? Otherwise I have no idea about this stuff, but I've used my phone as hot spot for a laptop before.

What will her usage be? Video streaming, only text stuff?

She’ll be “using a VPN that runs a bunch of programs at once like Word, Citrix, Teams, Jabber, etc” on a laptop.

No use of video streaming or anything like that. Voice calls will possibly be a thing but she can use her phone on that one if need be obviously.

Her job is that she “determines medical necessity of inpatient hospital stays.” So she basically is looking at charts and reaching out to hospitals.

Hotspot through a phone should suffice.

A devoted separate 5G hotspot would be massive overkill.

I also recommend she switches on-call weeks with someone, and if they refuse I'll beat them up.

She has one a year and it starts tomorrow so she being stressed already doesn’t wanna add more stress by finding someone else.
