13 points past 5 games.

This kid is exciting. I really think we might have something here.
He was impressive during prospects camp. I dont know how excited I can get, just based on the fact that he's kinda doing what he should be doing as a 19 year old OHL player. A skilled guy on the smaller side who is eligible for the AHL next season should be putting up at least 1.5ppg in the OHL to have a legitimate shot as a prospect. But if he can keep up what he's been doing the past few weeks, it will certainly raise his stock for sure!

Giroux centers Gavin Hayes And Othmann….Lombardi and Piercey on 2nd line

So what has happened lately?

Lombardi has taken a huge point-lead on the team.

Othmann injured and Lombardi started carrying the team. ?

There just huge difference in point-leaders vs. my last check. Lombardi pulling away... I remember he wasn't even a Top3 scorer at October 16th.

Lombardi is stacking up extremely well to the CHLers taken in the first round

113th Overall - Lombardi OHL PPG: 1.39

Better than

9th Overall - Savoie WHL PPG : 1.29
11th overall - Geekie WHL PPG: 1.26
22nd overall - Gaucher OHL PPG: 1.21
33rd OA : Beck OHL PPG - 1.375 ppg

Obviously these numbers are close and JR PPGs are just one part of the puzzle, but rn looks like a slam dunk pick who likely goes top 35 in a redraft rn

Remember though he is an actual 03 birthdate. Not a late one. So his original draft year was technically 2021.

Stillman, Boucher and Othmann were all OHL first round forwards from his original draft (2021)
He is outperforming them currently.

Lombardi is an excellent pro level skater and they took a flyer on him because he really stepped up his game and showed more in the playoffs last year. Seems to be working out.

Keep in mind the year Lombardi was ‘passed on’ in the draft was the Covid year that the OHL was completely cancelled.

And, he has the same first name as a famous composer, and so did Sergei Fedorov.

Coincidence? I think not ... similarities abound.

Yeah, I guess my point is more along of the lines that Hanas put up similar numbers last year and people dogged him as a prospect, but because Lombardi is putting up these numbers right after being drafted, people are getting worked up over his potential (which he has a ton of). But people need to be aware of his actual comparables, which arent the 17 and 18 year olds drafted with him.

Quite sure there are guys currently playing from that 2021 draft, those age mates ?
Weren't a lot of forwards drafted from the OHL that year, and some of them are already in the NHL (Johnston, McTavish)

Brennan Othmann (#16 overall pick) - 35 pts in 26 games
Chase Stillman (#29 overall pick) - 23 pts in 26 games
Francesco Pinelli (#42 overall) - 31 pts in 22 games
Ryan Winterton (#67 overall pick) - Injured
Brett Harrison (#85 overall pick) - 26 pts in 22 games

Lombardi - 40 pts in 29 games

The pick we gave up for Cossa (plus we could've had Raty too with the other Cossa pick)
