My new Snoopy hoodie came in today. Ordered a men's medium cause that usually works for my skinny but not too skinny behind. Open it up and immediately realize the sweater cuts small. Hopefully it doesn't shrink too much after I wash it.

So the Patriot in Kyiv reportedly shot down a Kinzhal hypersonic rocket. Cool.

There's conflicting info on this, but yeah. Hypersonic has been overrated for a long time. There's a reason why the US has treated this tech like an afterthought, and I trust US defense research priorities a lot more than I trust Russian defense priorities.

We first shot down a hypersonic-speed target in the 80s.

Yup I waited for a day and a half before Ukr finally confirmed it today - after initially making “fog”
Quite fascinating. Agreed on the priorities who to trust there

I guess credit to Russia for the rare "wonder" weapon that isn't entirely vaporware. But yeah, kind of a massive wasted effort.

It's funny that after being hounded by Congress the USAF finally grumbled off to make their own hypersonic and we did it with minimal effort and time relative to the Russian experience.

A slower object can intercept an oncoming faster one, just all about angles.

It's also possible that the thing which makes the hypersonic missile so special is also a possible Achilles heel. It may be less maneuverable at those higher speeds to keep from going out of control.

Yes! When something is traveling very high and very fast, then it isn't going to be maneuverable. It has a small area of probability for where it will strike, so it's not hard to guess where it's going. Some hypersonic systems are only hypersonic while getting to the target and then they have to slow down to target the target, at which point it's nothing special. If it's low and hypersonic, then it's in a plasma ball that prevents it from doing any kind of guidance or target acquisition so if the ballistic accuracy isn't 100% then there's nothing the missile is gonna do to correct, and it misses.

US radar is already good enough. The anti-air systems are good enough. Missiles with rotating warheads that can down targets without needing to be as precisely placed are being developed.

Another general rule of thumb is that Russia and China pursue these projects as show-off propaganda stunts. They're maybe even meant to be more propaganda than practical. They strongly tend to overstate their capabilities, while the US understates theirs.

This was just a giant bed of river rock 2 weeks ago but we decided we wanted something up front so we can be social. Hooray for Saturday projects. I still have to re-do the drain, but I ran out of time.

Jesus Florida is like Captain Planet and the Planeteers lost and it's actually the ECO-VILLAINS who are running things.

"Oh hey... We are the state that mines like 65% of the phosphorous for fertilizer in the US... But damn we got this hazardous waste product from the mining process we just gotta store in vats and can't use for anything... I know, let's mix into road material and make some money and not have to store it indefinitely anymore!"

Needs a little rocking chair for the little rascal.
Shes only stroller eligible currently but we'll get her one once she's of age.

Thatcher Venmo is going to be spending many a nights in those chairs.

Edit: I will make a appearance in my garage sometime this weekend.
If all goes to plan, yes.

Re: Edit- heard this one before!

It's time to graduate from a queen to a king sized bed. We currently have a Purple Mattress which we bought 3 years ago, it sucks.

Just got back from staying a week at a Marriot Time Share in Orlando when we took the kids to Disney World. That bed was great. It may have even been a California King.

Anyway, now I'm down the rabbit hole of looking for mattresses but Big Mattress owns the whole internet, all the review sites and pays for sponsored youtube videos...hell even the reddit for mattresses is filled with Mattress Firm people.

Just by reading this thread you are all probably going to be spammed with mattress ads, your welcome.

Anyone with a Consumer Reports account that shows the top mattress brands?

We are down to a few options:

Helix Sunset Medium Pillow Top
Beautyrest Harmony Lux Pillow Top
Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Elite
Beautyrest Pressure Smart

Anyone have any opinions or experience with these brands or mattresses?

The low dose of gabapentin has slightly reduced the pain but not much. So that seems ominous

Edit: wait is this a drug that needs to load up in the system? I'll wait on being doomy if so

Depends on the dosage. We give it to my son every night before bed.

Although they gave it to me after my most recent knee surgery and it didn't really do much.

Our Purple works great for us, but that's the thing with this nonsense, one man's destroyed back is another man's heavenly sensation.

Bumping up from queen to king is a life changer. I congratulate you.

Yeah, and the nature of this thing is that it comes and goes so I've got no clue if it's working or if my nerve got bored of paining me. Last night it felt like someone had ripped the skin off my leg and quad.

Is your son epileptic?

I'm going to caution this with what @Beef Invictus said - everyone's back is completely different.

We have one of those inexplicably expensive Casper mattresses thst folds 90 different ways. It's great, but I'd never buy it again.

This is literally the most comfortable mattress I've ever laid on: supportive, but pillowy. If the wife and I ever get divorced I'm sacrificing the bed as a bargaining chip and laughing all the way to the bank with one of these (in King, obviously).

Mass shooting at a mall in Texas yesterday. Now news of a range rover possibly intentionally driving into a group of migrants outside a Catholic Charities shelter killing 7 or more in a Texas border town.

We gonna need a saw-off Texas bugs bunny gif

Every single day the idea of just moving entirely away from society and eschewing human interactions looks more and more enticing.
