Yeah I thought we sustained offensive pressure probably better than any game I've watched. We just had grade A scoring chances delivered to the Staals and Dwyers so basically ended up with nothing.

Good game guys. Your team played really well trust me wild fans knows how it feels to lose like that. Is the ice always like that?

Recently? Yes. Our long time ice guy died and they've struggled to find a suitable replacement.

So if any of you guys up north need a job, there you go.

Must have watched a different game than Wally, since I thought the Canes did a great job of sustaining offensive zone pressure, usually with the pinching D-man.

Ha. I thought the forwards cycled real well, but the points were real tentative to take any chances. Funny how often people watch the same game and see different things.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. The ice was just brutal tonight... seemed like they were playing with a Superball instead of a puck!

Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call tonight in the Aftermath. Long time listener, first time caller. So psyched!

So, cool, ok. I know you guys are pretty down on the shootout, since you've now spent A SOLID HOUR whining about it, and discussing fantastical scenarios about how things would work in Ideal Hockey World, and complaining about the theme music, and sounding like a couple of pathetic homer losers generally (with all due respect).

But given that the shootout is actually IN THE FREAKING RULES, shouldn't the organization maybe sorta figure out how to win them? Y'know, since we have fewer shootout wins than any other team in the league in the nine-year history of the shootout, by a fairly wide margin? Doesn't it kinda make sense to, y'know, figure out how win at least as many of those games as we lose, instead of cursing the fates and making up fantasy hockey rules that involve 3-on-3 and then 2-on-2 and then team mascot wrestling?

Thanks guys. Love your work. I'll hang up and listen.

Donnie Mac was well respected amongst NHL'ers for the way he took care of the ice. It's a shame he died so young (51 I think) and so suddenly as well. Trying to find a replacement for someone like him isn't easy.

I can only assume this team's got someone doing the same scouting reports on opposing shooters/goaltenders.

Though if they don't, that would explain a lot.

Don't know how anyone can complain about the result from last night, shootout or not. Going into this game, if you told me that you'd give me a point against Minnesota I'd take it every time.

Parise would've gotten just about every goalie in the league on that one, I have a hard the mocking him about that.

I agree with hank, like it or not it's a part of the game and we need to be better at it. It shows our lack of offensive skill throughout the team. The staals are our top 2 centers but you wouldn't use them unless you had to. Terry sure looked smooth though.

I really wish our goalies would stay in the net a little more in shootouts and make the shooters make the shot instead of getting deked out their pants leaving a wide open nets.

The results couldn't get any worse, so its worth a try.

That's kind of what happened on the last two.

Didn't he die like YEARS ago? I mean, are there THAT few people who can make good ice?

It was May of 2011 I think.

And it would seem so. I remember some article around '09 that mentioned our ice being really good for a warm climate. Sidney Crosby (I think) once mentioned he thought our ice quality was the best in the league (or at least close to it).

To be perfectly clear:

I am delighted with the fact that we got a point.

But I am enraged at those who continually explain or wish away our shootout futility. The difference between a good shootout and a bad shootout could be 10 points a season. I know that everyone in the org hates the shootout. I don't care. Fix it.

I was happy to see Terry and Nash out there. At least we're seeing some creative thinking about the shootout.

All it takes is a SO win and then the sky is the limit.

Unfortunately, getting that win usually doesn't happen until late in the season.
