Gallant, the guy you started gave up what even Vally called an "AHL goal", which is the goal you talked about. Next time f***ing start Igor against the better offensive team Gallant. Or better yet bring Kincaid up.

Still can’t get over that Trouba icing in OT, not like it was a missed stretch pass looking for a breakaway, he just iced the puck.

Trouba is good defensively. He is, despite what people say. But my God is he inept on offense. He's basically like Bryan McCabe: big shot from the point, but he doesn't score, he's not a PMD...

Gallant had Lafreniere’s back. Defended him with Mollie Walker (who I like) asking questions. A small tense moment. Gallant was agitated.

I didn't intend to comment, but the directed hate is out of control again. Malik (nonsense), Girardi (system), Staal (almost understandable) and it seems we've settled on Georgiev now.

Blaming the goalie is all well and good, but he made some decent saves and had next to no chance on a few of the goals. He was far better than the winning goalie tonight.

So, tonight our team was worse. To me the majority of our guys weren't good and deserve some blame. It was very much a team loss in my eyes, not on an individual.

That said, all the guys who were crying that all Kakko needed to produce better than Blackwell was a wee bit longer on that second line sure seem pretty quiet. Still praying to see some skill from the guy. Complain about Goodrow in the top six all you want, but there is somebody else there who seems to have a lot less going for him.

Have you ever seen a goalie whiff with his glove by a foot for it to hit him in the mask? I'm not talking about putting thr glove in front of his face. He straight thought it was left and hit him in the forehead...

Okay, enough of the laf slander. He had like 9 mins of ice time, fed a breakway to hunt who somehow missed the entire net. I understand the rage. We lost up 4-1. I agree with georgiev being bad. Even if its 40 shots, 6 goals is too much. Idk what happened to him, but he has regressed every year and thats why goalies are voodoo and you get a proven backup. Kakko doesnt work with panarin and strome. Id switch him and goodrow. Kakko likes tje puck on his stick and mika and kreider are shooters. Let him hold on to it and set em up. Fwiw, panarin played great until the whole team collapsed. I even hit up vally on twitter after the 1st goal and he admitted its low percentage. The problem with georgiev is rebounds. Shesty swallows the puck. It doesnt matter if the play is reset because he will just shut it down again. Honestly? Maybe georgiev needs a sports therapist to get his head back in the game.

Different coach same shit. At what point is this team going to just say f*** it and rip out one of the core pieces to shake this f***ing garbage culture they have.
The Buchnevich trade was especially weird to me because it seemed like with everything they were saying in the media about getting tougher, getting a better mentality, then trading a core player for a surprisingly low return it seemed like they were making an example out of a guy. Maybe it wasn't meant to be taken so harshly, I know they liked Blais and there was the cap issue.

But if they did move a guy to shake up the room, they picked the wrong guy - I actually like Ryan Strome a lot, but it should have been him lol. Clearly very bright, high draft pick, talented, but flaky. Always there for the good times, not the guy to turn a bad situation around. Mr. Ranger.

Meanwhile our no. 1 & 2 picks have no legs, no hands, no points; the list goes on.

You can't score from the bench.

You can't score when the two asshole vets don't bother to pass the puck to you.

You also can't score in the NHL when you're actually in Russia.

I like the strategy tbh.

Edmonton’s offense was going to be a tough game for us even with Igor in net.

To me this could have been a loss with Igor in net. But we got a point.

Now go win with Igor tomorrow. Then this west coast road trip is 2-0-2. You take that. And you can take that because of the start you had. 6 out of 8 points would be a big gain on a tough road trip that you havent traveled in awhile.

Better games for who? The Rangers as a team?
Chytil had a good shot, Kreider had a good shot....I want that Gallant "man game" to start

The super star players clearly don't, cheap talk notwithstanding. This was more of that garbage open ice hockey we saw under Quinn. It's simply the way the big shots on this team plays. Gallant has quite the job ahead of him to tame the stars. Gallant has given the 'country club' a lot of leash but that may have been a big mistake by him.

Coaching has as much to do with it as anything.

We kept up with Edmonton for most of the game and then the effort died out. The capability is there, but the team is just not consistently competitive nor do they seem motivated.

On defense, it's almost like seeing a Bystander Effect in action. Everyone's waiting for someone else to handle it.

On the OTG, we saw McDavid get in there and pin Fox to the corner, Kreider went to cover the point, and Mika was slow to get over to Draisaitl. That's just poor coverage.

Even in the post-game interview, they're looking to each other to answer.

Kakko was noticeable. He made a key defensive play that broke up a scoring chance with Puljujarvi in the 1st.

He also had a couple nice rushes through the neutral zone. He handled the puck well and dished it off as expected. But what else do you want him to do? Everything runs through Panarin. He barely has the puck to even take a shot on his own without utilizing his linemates. There was one play in the 2nd in the neutral zone…Kakko was open on the far side, but Panarin chose to make the short pass to Strome who had a defender right on him for an immediate turnover. Its shit like this that Kakko cant overcome.

Lafreniere almost scored in the 3rd after battling his way on the boards taking some tough contact. He again barely played. He is playing with stone hands McKegg and Hunt.
Nice. Excuses yet again. Let’s admit both were invisible and f***ing useless as always. Derrick Brassard has 2 more points than Lafreniere and Kakko COMBINED have had this season in half as many games. But yeah LaF and Kakko looked good as they always do they’re just so snake bit !

The Rangers are doing something very very wrong. It’s not just Laf and Kakko, it’s Kravtsov and Lias Andersson too.

They need to take a deep, hard look in the organizational mirror.
There's something rotten at the core.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane for a bit in order from most to least recent.

Laf and Kakko? Struggling mightily despite being consensus picks in terms of their draft positions.

Kravtsov? Demanded a trade and is a spoiled, bratty rich kid that has borderline delusions of grandeur.

Andersson? Demanded a trade and if you read between the lines, was forced back from injuries early and was forced pain killers while in Hartford. To the point that he was so psychologically scarred from the experience he f***ed off to Sweden to get his head right for almost a whole year.

JT Miller looked ok for the most part but picked a fight with Tanner Glass and saw himself pretty much given away in a trade a short time later. Now a top line forward on a middling NHL team.

Cherepanov? RIP. What could have been.

Chris Kreider is the only 1st round drafted forward in the last 15 years to pan out and actually be a contributor.

With the exception of Cherepanov and Kreider, all of those picks happened under the watch of Jeff Gorton. That's a pretty f***ing awful track record, but Gorton is only a part of that puzzle. Where are the scouts and talent evaluators that didn't flag potential issues with Kravtsov and Andersson from the beginning? It's too recent to hear anything now, but were there any flags brought up when interviewing Lafreniere or Kakko?

The Rangers should start by hiring a sports psychologist to screen their prospects and potential draft choices and have them sign off on the pick. The amount of forward talent squandered or given away as of late is simply astounding.
