Ada hasn't played much, when he does...I haven't really been motivated to watch. Today I was...but I ****ed up and didn't hit record b4 going out.

I'm so interested to see if this board has a bias that is causing it to ignore glaring issues with ada or if it's truly as bafflingly stupid on the coaches part as everyone says
his on ice play hasn't been the issue
it's been stuff we haven't seen or heard which is why people straight lost their minds and spun in circles writing the same things for weeks

after this particular performance he's not coming out, so you can see him in San Jose at the very least

DeAngelo would have to bone Quinn's wife to get sat next game. Vesey, get to the 3rd line where you belong. Poor Chytil is just too light at times to be effective in this league. I'd prefer he went to Hartford and tore it up, this isnt helping him or the team right now imo. Finally get kreider and Zibanajad back together, put Namestnicov and Spooner with Hayes and fill in the rest.

I'll deal with the guy having turnovers and mistakes, but knowing how to create offense, and seemingly knowing how to get out of the zone with the puck. It's better than watching the good ole boys of Smith and Staal being clogged in their own zone for entire shifts, and creating nothing.

Gorton's biggest mistake was giving a couple of these losers 2 year deals instead of 1.

Much harder to move.

Wait, how do we know it was off ice stuff? Quinn said it?Sry I've missed ada-gate

If you look at the underlying numbers, Howden has been the worst of he, ADA, and Chytil by far, and yet he's been given the most chances to succeed.

That's because Howden fits into the "he looks like he's working hard" paradigm. Not that I don't like Howden as a prospect, but I just hate the way this league is coached.

Yeah Chytil has had a hard time producing, but he's also spent the majority of the year with 3rd and 4th liners. We're trying to build his confidence. He should be getting pumped favorable ice time.
Couldn't agree more.

This couldn't be furthest from the truth. He wins his boards battle 95% of the time. He is simply not scoring, he's been so good that he he makes a line with McLeod useful, think about that.

He is young and should play especially when the whole team struggle to connect passes, and Ada is a great defender who can pass the puck and young players should play with the rebuild topic in mind. Yes, he has some issues and weaknesss, but he played very well this day in LA.

An extra year adds value, not reduce it.

Not in all cases. If you're a good young player, obviously you'd want that player for longer. But if you're an overpaid vet like Namestnikov, Spooner, Belesky the extra years make it worse. That's a contract you gotta keep on the books next year and absorb the cap hit in it's entirety next year.

There is still too much of an AV flavor to this roster along with a ton of dead weight.

Zucc, Hayes, Spooner (even if hes newish) are all AV guys. They don't exactly fit into what the coach is going for (Hayes can, but he hasn't played like it.)

Then we have the abso-trash that is Staal on the back end with what looks like a half assed Shattenkirk (who isn't even getting the prime minutes he should be on the PP), McQuaid who is the epitome of meh, Skjei trying to do everything on every shift. Pionk getting PP1 minutes is absurd, he is the 3rd best RH PPQB on the roster.

Don't even get me started with Zucc on the PK.

Pretty much.

And I know star players usually don't make good coaches, but most soccer and baseball managers were at least solid starters. Most NHL coaches couldn't even make the AHL.

That you believe a baseball manager matters even slightly in determining success is shocking.

Im not a fancy stats guy, but if someone could show his defensive zone starts and possibly who he gets his ice time against, I would be interested. Other people are on ice for the goals against because it feels to me like he's not on the ice against the other teams best players very frequently. When he does get out there and the other team makes a change and better players come out, that is where I feel there is a huge problem. Im not going to beat a dead horse. I've said my piece about the guy. I hope he proves me wrong. Ive been wrong before, and I will be wrong again at some point. Don't feel like I am here though.

There's absolutely going to be interest from a contender in a year and a half of Namestnikov and Spooner. These aren't terrible players we're talking about. Ok, maybe Spooner kind of is, but if a team needs offense...

Also, they're really not overpaid. 4 million is absolutely nothing with the way contracts are inflating. Good but not elite players get 7+ now.

I agree that a lot of our guys appear poisoned by AV.

That Harlem Globetrotters passing with 5 seconds left was peak Rongos.

Although I do think we should just focus on building a good roster, not necessarily a roster in Quinn's image.

I look at Howden, Chytil, and Lias and I see good players. I see potentially half of a top 6. I'm not sure I see great players.

As I've said before, the Rangers desperately need a Judge/Porzingis/Barkley. A franchise-defining offensive player to build around.

Yeah, they need to pick high and they will, but they've picked high before. They need to identify and develop an elite talent. No excuses.

They should be selling again and have multiple firsts, including a high one. It's put up or shut up. Gorton sinks or swims at this point.

Imagine wanting to add both of them. That's 8M in cap next year. 10% of the cap for two very mediocre players.

Rangers will probably have to retain on their deals. If they know what they're doing and don't f*** up Panarin or any future FA moves, I'm fine with it. But those players are not very valuable on their contracts IMO.

There's been takers on a lot worse.

All Quinn would say is "he knows what he has to do" after I think the 4th straight game he got scratched after looking fine in the games he played after getting scratched to start the season despite a good preseason.

By not talking about it, he was talking about it, if you get what I'm saying.

Did you watch last night's game?

There are no metrics I'm aware of to back up your view. Baseball managers win if they have superior personnel. Never with even average personnel. Pointing to one game as proof of anything is absurd.

You can argue that organizations that pay more attention to stats are more successful, but managers just don't matter, unless they are inept.

Joe Torre is a perfect example of managers not mattering. With the Yankees, he won. Elsewhere, he was an utter failure.

Bochy wins three titles in 6 years. The other years, .500 was unlikely. Is he smarter some seasons than others?

With all of the bitching by fans here of the NHL, at least we get consistent effort. Watching that Red Sox pitcher walk to 2nd base and not getting tossed by his manager is a disgrace. Yeah, I know that last part was irrelevant, but what a joke so many MLB players are.
