Stop with the shutdown talk. That is an insult to those who can actually shut other players down. He is a shot blocker. His skating is not even close to good enough to be a shut down player. McD is a shut down player. Ryan O'Reilly and Sean Coutourier are shut down centers. BB is just not.

The PP is so ****ing putrid that it doesn't matter who is playing. Discard that point.

That is exaggerated, He blocks shots but he never has the puck which is a big part of keeping other teams off the board. He's just not great at anything. He's good as a PK specialist and he wins a fair amount of draws. The rest of this legend is exaggerated and it appears that Torts is finally opening his eyes.

He played shut down D with a 70% rate against the other teams top players. So yeah shutdown center

He's a good defensive center because he has the ability block shots and play on the penalty kill. He's offensively inept, skates as well as Rupp, has the turning radius of an 18-wheeler, can't shoot, has no peripheral vision...

Nobody cares about the shift start stats. And we get trapped in our zone on many of those shifts because he has no puck skills.

Just because he played that role doesn't mean he was good at it. Everyone on this team looked better on the defensive side of the puck last year because of Hank. However, if you watch him play, it is amazing how bad he is when he has the puck and again puck possession helps alot in keeping the biscuit out of our net.

He was benched one game... unless miller turns into a great defensive center boyle will be back.
