We probably won't know ahead which goalie would perform better today, I doubt Quinn knows either. We can look at pros and cons for both players, but we still don't know.Like Quinn said, 49/51%.

And? Howden night after night is the least effective, least productive forward on this team. He is however, a favorite of the coach so no point whining. But, he will not produce and anytime he spends with Laf is going to be time without offense.

To say that he has no creativity is a little exaggerated. If you think he' the least effective, least productive, I'm not going to respond to an opinion. Agree to disagree.

Shesterkin gets a lot of slack for his bad play. Georgiev has been a really good goalie for us, I'd like to extend the same patience to him as I have to 31, even if I think 31 is the better player I want 2 good young goalies.

Measuring team success can be tricky, depending on goal/timeline. There has to be some kind of balance/compromise.
We could get wins, reach playoffs, by riding the vets, but kids might suffer. We could put emphasis on the kids, not having much short term success winning games, but have a well developed team in a few years.
Or it could be a balanced approach.
Not easy to be a coach, no matter if it is Quinn or any of the others. No matter what the coach does, some fans will be happy, some not so happy (hope this makes sense, I am not a hockey professor, barely casually following the sport).

If it was a day off between games, then I think Quinn would've went with the "hot hand." But with three days between games, and practice time, that qualifies as a "reset."

Yes they will. Fair or not, he has brought that upon himself. His decision making thus far has seemed erratic at best, so he is in a lose lose situation right now.

If he makes the correct coaching decisions, it will be seen as luck.

If me makes the wrong decisions, it will be seen as more of the same.

This won't change until he builds a track record of success which I'm not sure he is capable of.

Basically he hasn't done anything to earn the benefit of the doubt yet, so he will get unfairly judged. This isn't unique to NY

Quinn does not make goalie decisions in a vacuum. I am quite confident that Benoit Allaire has at least a 51% vote on goalies. In Allaire we trust!.

I can't tell if you're messing with me or not. Howden has 2 Goals and 4 Assists in his last 25 NHL Games. He's also statistically the worst Ranger on the team this year offensively. You can even count the D-men. I'm pretty sure that's 13th forward type stats. Every once in a while a 4th liner will do something of that caliber. Its just like, once a month. He also gets good ice time and plays with gifted players and still can't manage anything offensively. If he were on a break away, he'd throw it in the corner and change.

Complaining about Howden's play this year seems a bit short sighted. In his role, he has been fine. More than fine.

I'm not messing with you. I referenced the video to show that he does have some creativity. Personally, I've been ok with his play. I don't think he'll be beyond a bottom-six center. But, actually, he did have a breakaway, in the last game, on which he was stopped by Vanacek.

He plays every night, has for a couple of years. What does he do well? I just don't see it. And i haven't seen anyone articulate on this board what it is that gets him into the lineup every night.

After watching Oilers/Flames the other night, just deal Georgie to Edmonton for a ransom.

I would've been better than Kosy, and I haven't skated in 15 years.

we were told their goaltending was fine lol.
Will be nice to see them miss the playoffs again while literally having two of the best players in the league on their team.

Please no. Give them the 4 seed.

Otherwise, Edmonton will "luck" into another top pick.

I think unfortunately he's being called upon once again to play in a role he's not suited for. To me he's looking like a 4th liner, not a guy who can center a line that is expected to provide offense. If he can play in straight lines, work the boards, and not have to be creative and help setup his linemates, then he's fine. If he's being tasked with keeping up with offensive players then he will struggle.
With Chytil out he's basically playing out of position.
