I had a lot to offer to that music conversation, but I'll just quote these two points.
Also, not that we are on this topic, but Hurt by Johnny Cash is the best cover ever
My favorite cover is SRV's little wing.
The Joe Walsh solo career is orders of magnitude worse than the Don Henley solo career. You can take the Eagles out of the Eagles, but you can't take the Eagles out of the Eagles, if you know what I mean, and I know you do.
My mom used to bone Joe Walsh...She says it was one of her friends, but I don't believe her. She grew up in Akron, OH, and also was big friends with Chrissy Hyndes, knew one of the Outlaws replacement guitar players, and also dated the original manager of Devo. She hated them and Mark Mothersbaugh knew it...Longer story there.

The Outlaws are underrated

Fun thoughts from the floor of a hospital room at like 2-5am:

1) what's the psychological science behind hospitals use boring Beige point in delivery rooms? Why not fun colors? It's always amazing that despite hospitals always feeling like a prison with stainless and bland colors...they never do anything to change it.

2) there's about 60 linear feet of counter space in here. Am I getting a breakfast spread? What gives?

3) why is the spouse bed approximately 4 inches off the ground?

4) Furthermore, why is it the most uncomfortable thing known to man?

5) why isn't there better soundproofing? Noone who isnt yet in labor wants to hear someone else go into labor and deliver. Especially at 3 am.

6) hospital linens are awful. I know there's a hygienic piece to consider here but when you're gonna have people locked up for 4 days or so, why wouldn't you invest in something a little better?

7) I take back my uncomfortable bed thing. It's uncomfortable, but im not about to birth a bowling ball, so I guess I can manage.

8) I wonder how the cat is going to take to not being the only other living thing in the house. Not well is my guess.

9) I'm not a small dude, but im going to need to daisy chain these hospotal towels together to take a shower tomorrow. They're the size of hand towels, but I've been assured they "are our regular towels".

The soundproofing is a must. Our room was next to one that had a baby that never once stopped crying, at all. It was stressing Beefette out fiercely.

You're either delirious or this post took you between 4 and 7 hours to complete.

These exact thoughts are a rite of passage for any first-time-father-to-be. I'm pretty sure they came up with a delivery room template sometime back in the 70's and every hospital in America just ran with it and never looked back.

Good luck to you and the wife, shit is about to get real!

If you sleep on the floor in the hallway in front of the nurses station, they’ll find you a bed and better linen.

Those were just random thoughts throughout the night as I attempted to sleep on this Russian torture device they call a bed. I was able to get a few hours in throughout the night but it was hardly enjoyable.

Thank you sir! Hopefully for the bug day to be today- mostly for my wife's sake. But also less so for my own backs sake as well.

I'm not sure I want to chance this.

I really wonder how much his stuff will endure, even MBDTF. It's always felt more of its time to me than something like To Pimp A Butterfly or Blonde.
Blonde bores me to death. It has the worst interludes/skits. Channel Orange laps it.
The Weeknd's first 3 albums > anything Frank's released though.

TPAB is a deep album with great lyrics but as a musical document its a lil too long and unwieldy.
Probably his 3rd best album for me.

MBDTF is the point Kanye started to make sense. You can tell he didnt start to feel himself until he got rich.
The best production of any rap album ever besides Slum Village - Fantastic Vol. 2 and Goodie Mob - Soul Food.
When they make the lists of best albums since 2000 it deserves to be #1

There's what I like and there's what I think will endure. My post was only about the latter. I don't like Springsteen at all, but as long as there are average dads who like to think of themselves as factory workers scraping by, he'll be in the zeitgeist. Sadly.

My favorite Kanye track by far is "Gorgeous", so I'm also probably not the best judge of widley-held opinions on his career tbh.

Beige requires the least processing power from your brain. In 36 more hours when the part of your brain that understands space and time is melting you will appreciate the stability of beige.
2) there's about 60 linear feet of counter space in here. Am I getting a breakfast spread? What gives?
Ours was covered wall to wall in snacks. I pray for your soul if you didn't bring snacks.
3) why is the spouse bed approximately 4 inches off the ground?
You won't actually be sleeping, it is to stop you from falling off when you enter the delirium.
4) Furthermore, why is it the most uncomfortable thing known to man?
I pray for your soul if you said this out loud.
5) why isn't there better soundproofing? Noone who isnt yet in labor wants to hear someone else go into labor and deliver. Especially at 3 am.
You will soon understand that they could build hospitals like German bunkers in 1945 and the sound wouldn't be contained.
6) hospital linens are awful. I know there's a hygienic piece to consider here but when you're gonna have people locked up for 4 days or so, why wouldn't you invest in something a little better?
Again please God tell you haven't said this out loud.
7) I take back my uncomfortable bed thing. It's uncomfortable, but im not about to birth a bowling ball, so I guess I can manage.
Oh God you said it out loud.
8) I wonder how the cat is going to take to not being the only other living thing in the house. Not well is my guess.
Get one of your parents to bring home some baby things for the cat to sniff the day before you come home. That's what we did with our dog and it seemed to help, although cats are much more murderous.
9) I'm not a small dude, but im going to need to daisy chain these hospotal towels together to take a shower tomorrow. They're the size of hand towels, but I've been assured they "are our regular towels".
Don't worry the concept of cleanliness is contained in the part of your brain that handles space and time, which will soon be melting. You won't be worried about cleanliness soon. Enjoy the beige.

Also congrats. Try to jot down some notes of the experience. You'll be too tired to remember properly so you'll be happy to have some help recalling the fun/funny parts.

I don't understand why Springsteen remains huge and Bob Seger is basically forgotten. Please explain.

I said none of it out loud. These things all jist came to my head as I was laying on the brick of a mattress. I voiced them to my notepad app and shared them here because, well, I'm not dumb enough to say them to a woman who is giving birth, lol.

The Beige thing makes sense even if it is or isn't the real reason it's done. We have snacks galore so we're fine there. Just seems like a LOT of counter for nothing.

We've been acclimating the cat with baby crying sounds to help her get used to the sound, but good call on bringing something home.
