Are you the "fan" who threw their sweater on the ice after game 1?
Edmonton will be a lot harder for the kings to play against due to their speed than people think.

Even if by some miracle Edmonton plays decent the entire game, they will find a way to blow it.

IR only saves a roster spot. It has to be LTIR to get both a roster spot and cap relief. And without the cap relief we can't call anyone up. But you have to think Lewis is close to going on LTIR just because of the time.

I thought he was already put on IR.
I imagine if another injury should occur LA would be able to make an emergency call up of some sort.

I'm not taking the Oilers lightly as the Kings tend to play down to the level of lesser opponents, but holy crap is that roster they are icing tonight pathetic.

Check the Hammond article that dee posted. Lots of moving parts. Let's try not to test the early-season cap policies

I hadn't seen that he was officially on IR but according to the Kings site he is.
The emergency call up rule is a weird one but if we only have 19 players that can dress we can use it. Meaning 4 players would need to be on IR to use it. And we could call up any player that makes 650K or less and it not be charged against the cap.

Thank you for clarifying. hopefully we will not need it.

OMG, the Oilers GDT is legitimately hilarious. I encourage everyone to do a drive by...

Do the Oilers not have an AHL affiliate? Why in the world do they continue to play 18 year old kids in the NHL? I'm willing to bet half those blue chip prospects never see their potential or it isn't realized on the Oilers. The one big thing they are missing with all these high draft picks is the fact that they need to be developed.

I know you're kidding, but the answer to the bolded question is:
Yes, they have one -- they actually OWN the Oklahoma City Barons franchise (though it is managed in most part by a local team, as I understand it). So they have full control, theory, over management of the ice time, system, etc, of their own AHL team.

Recently, the Oilers also outright PURCHASED the ECHL Bakersfield franchise as well, leading some to wonder whether they're hoping to effectively swap the franchises for either 2015-16 or 2016-17, putting their AHL team in Bakersfield to go with theorized teams in Stockton and Ontario, etc, and putting the ECHL franchise into Oklahoma City to partner with Wichita, Tulsa, Missouri, and Allen.

The Kings moving the Monarchs to Ontario or San Diego would be part of this theory, of course...

And because of the rule abaove, they have to stay under the CAp, which from CAPGEEk is about 476K, and I don't thing there's anyone on the Monarchs that makes less.

Well league minimum is 550K so yeah it's actually not possible to make less than 476K.

Also this the Oilers impression of D...
