I'm no expert on goalies but for sure I agree. He just seems to be better at controlling the rebounds.
Yeah, I'm not gonna pretend I know much about playing goalie, but the difference I rebound control (and just straight up not giving them up) is huge. Way fewer heart attack moments, especially with a young defense that doesn't have great presence in front of the net.

And speaking of which, in contrast , Vasilevskiy was kicking out some super juicy rubber.

Haley's fight set the tone. Kakko's best game as a Ranger. Georgiev was outstanding. Pretty much everyone played well and it was enjoyable to watch. We played kind of a mean game but Tampa's done the same to us a lot of times in the recent past so it sucks to be them tonight. Clutch goal by Chytil and congrats to Fox on his first NHL goal and Lindgren his first NHL point.

They were actually better against Buffalo. We put them away early and repelled any notion of them making a comeback. This game was a toss up til 10 minutes left in the game. I love how we responded in crunch time, keeping the pressure on, and continued to be aggressive. It was a great win. But we played better two games ago.

Anytime this team wins, it will take a whole team effort. One guy out or two guys in won't mean a hell of beans without a team effort.
They were better tonight than against Buffalo. Buffalo just felt better because we were winning by 3 goals for the majority of the game. Buffalo had way more scoring chances against us than Tampa did tonight. The coverage in the defensive zone tonight was far better, especially at 5V5. Tampa really didn't get much going sustained pressure wise at 5V5 except for that marathon shift in the 1st that lead to their goal.

Only thing that pisses me off is seeing Lias play less than 3min a period. Especially considering he’s been effective with mediocre line mates.

I don’t think he’s been consistently effective. Still waiting on that one. Which isn’t to say I think he’s been bad or anything.

Hank has had a really difficult time with the rebounds this year, which is uncharacteristic.

Yeah at the peak of his game, the only goalie in my lifetime that I saw who was better at directing the rebound was Brodeur.

Other than that, the King would not only re-direct it safely, but he would also re-direct it into a transition. It was quite magnificent to watch.

Yeah he did a sick rabbit punch to knock down Goliath.

Also up to the flying knee in the head, the Rangers looked better against the Bruins than they did against the Sabers

Would have been nice to watch this one but hey thanks PG&E and California power outages

at any rate, Tampa may not be at the top of their game but still a good team with dangerous players and the Rangers played well

Not a lot of talk in this thread about Tampa missing their Norris-caliber D. For 2 periods.

The Rangers played well. Independently, the Lightning weren’t great. I think they’re going through some early season soul searching after the way last season ended for them.

Going to be the biggest up and down season in a while. Lots and lots of talent that will shine through brightly at times but will also let us down just as much due to inexperience

But, on the other hand, 21+ minutes for one Libor Hajek.

That's some pretty heavy confidence for a rookie kid coming off a bad game.

Right now Skjei-DeAngelo is our most questionable defensive pairing. Who would have guessed that?

I guess that's fair.

I gave a.v. a ton of credit when he would scratch girardi and Henrik when they weren't playing despite me hating avs guts...

Those guys are... Different. It's not easy to scratch a guy like staal, no matter how horribad he is.

Why do you think it's the case? Contract? Politics?
