I think it is becoming clear that Georgie is the new #1.
Not a knock on Hank, but the kid is just better right now. He is calm, always in position and makes tough saves look routine. I hope he can keep it up!
I'm no expert on goalies but for sure I agree. He just seems to be better at controlling the rebounds.

"The lack of Marc Staal was probably the biggest factor tonight, but we'll have to see how it goes. "

Yes, saying that sitting Staal was the biggest contributing factor to us defending like an NHL team for the first time all year = "we won because Staal sat"

And you conveniently left out the part where I said the team sucks either way.

Yes, the absence of Staal certainly helped.

Probably more of an impact than Chytil addition tbh

Well one is necessary for the other to happen ;) Since the puck has to get into the offensive zone for Chytil to do any damage be a serious impact. Seriously tho, I know one game sample size but Chytil has definitely worked on his all around game.

Kid is remarkably composed. He doesn't panic and usually makes the shooter make the first move.
You see some keepers "swimming" in the paint. This is usually a result of being out of position. You rarely see it from Georgie. Thus, make tough saves look routine.

He looked great. I haven’t seen live, but I’ve heard Shesty really picked up his game too.
From the bits I've seen of Hartford this year, yes, Shesterkin has played really, really well. Ask @Kovalev27 if you want more specifics. He's done a really good job keeping tabs of Hartford recently, specifically highlighting how the goalies have played.

Show me who said Staal is the only problem.

I took issue with the fact that he said we weren't better in this game. I honestly can't remember a game where the Rangers played better.
They were actually better against Buffalo. We put them away early and repelled any notion of them making a comeback. This game was a toss up til 10 minutes left in the game. I love how we responded in crunch time, keeping the pressure on, and continued to be aggressive. It was a great win. But we played better two games ago.

Anytime this team wins, it will take a whole team effort. One guy out or two guys in won't mean a hell of beans without a team effort.

I don't want this to get lost in all of the Staal discussion: Georgiev was legitimately fantastic tonight.

We just magically pluck goalies from all over the world, leave them wrapped up as a present under the Allaire Christmas tree and wait for him to unwrap the gifts with excitement and joy the next morning.

If we ever develop cloning technology, an Allaire clone is a necessity. 1st objective on the list.

He's been great in just about all of the games so far... there is no reason a 38 year old Hank should be getting more starts than him at this point, especially since we're in a rebuild

He’s an oracle of distant goaltenders.

I don’t even know what to say. It’s a pretty crazy spin to say you believe that the biggest contributing factor to a win isn’t also the reason for a win.

Whatever.
You can walk back what you were clearly intended to say. Whatever helps you feel better.
FWIW, I don't think Staal helps this team, but I also don't think he is the worst player in the NHL over the last 5 years. I wonder who made that statement?

Buffalo had 23 scoring chances.

If they were players, the Buffalo game was Michal Rozsival and this game was Brian Leetch.

I think their idea of splitting the tandem is the best decision at this point. It's still a small sample, but Hank has faced a much, much more difficult workload thus far and has done a very good job of keeping the Rangers in games (when feasible).

I was initially nervous about this situation, but I feel much better about this being a more seamless transition into the post-Hank era. As long as Hank can stay in his newly found mindset of staying sharp over longer stretches between games, he should be fine for the duration of his contract.
