You're literally making things up.

Asham has not been good in his limited ice time this season. In what world can he play better than Boyle?

I'm literally not. Asham has made a few moves to the net this season that created good scoring chances; Boyle has not done that once. I'll be honest I cannot really judge Asham's defensive play without seeing film since he has played so sparingly. But he has skills and a pretty good shot. I know he's hurt the Rangers in the past with it. Boyle does not have a good shot.

And Boyle did stand there and watch our prized rookie lay on the ice after getting nailed with 30 seconds left in a decided game. I'm sure Torts put that little act of cowardess in the bank as well.

Last time I posted this they won.

Fixed it for you.

Boyle has out performed Gaustad...by a considerable margin, since the 10-11 season.

You don't have to take my word for it...the numbers are out there.

Since the 10-11 season? That's one season. So last year Gaustad had 21 points in 70 games in a year he was traded.

Good point. You should be a lawyer.

This is watching kids open their presents from Santa. You don't want to tell them they believe in a fairytale because you see how happy it makes them.

Enjoy your day guys!

Win incoming.

It took them 10 games to get it together last year. It'll be similar this year.

Miller and Kreider come out huge, and the entire team is inspired by the play of a couple of rookies.

Hank plays out of his mind, gets his confidence back, and reverts to near last year form. Not quite Vezina quality Hank, but more than close enough.

They gut out a win here, get Girardi back, get Cally back, and the team take off like a rocket, with the PK improving, and the powerplay getting out of the bottom 10 in the league.

You heard it here.

Ok I can see the other stuff and I'm all for being positive but the bolded will never happen

Gaustad is a better defensive player.

Gaustad is a better physical player.

Gaustad is a better and offensive player.

This is what iam talking about when I refer to Boyle being overrated.

There's not one aspect of the game where I would prefer Boyle over Gaustad.

Well you obviously haven't seen the Predators recently. Gaustad has been absolutely brutal.

That's two+ seasons. 10/11. 11/12. And the first chunk of this season.

Losing Boyle would mean finding someone else to replace his tough minutes. He started 71% of his faceoffs in the defensive zone last season. He led the Rangers in short-handed ice time. It's tough to put up big offensive numbers that way.

For a staged fight, you need a willing dance partner.

Even for non-staged fights you need a willing partner. You can't force a guy to fight and no "dirty" player like Cooke for example would ever fight a true enforcer. And that makes enforcers pretty useless because they'll only ever fight each other and do more or less nothing else.

meanwhile they just won three in a row. Are now 4-2-3 and in 6th in the conference.

I wish teh Rangers have been that brutal.

Goose playing three less games has the same points and as brutal as he has been is still only -1 (same as Boyle)

Interesting.

Using that logic, Boyle must have been considerably better than Gaustad last season right?

He said "since" so I assumed he meant since. Anyway, enough with the "starts" stats. Watch him play. If you can tell me with a straight face that he manages the puck well in any zone at any time I will move on to the next topic. He blocks the puck, but when it is on his stick, he rarely does anything positive with it. He doesn't score because he doesn't have NHL puck skills. It is not because of where his play starts. And the first chunk of this season he has one assist and Guastad has two. Statistically on a percentage basis Gaustad is having twice as good a year as Boyle to this point.

And btw, his minutes are only tough for Ranger fans; not the opponent.

This **** about Boyle is ****ing ridiculous. He goes from a hero (before he got rocked by Neil) to a guy who shouldn't even be in the NHL? Give me a ****ing break.

stop.

I was asked if I had watched Nashville lately.

The fact is that while Gaustad may not have been playing well, the team as a whole has.

They have won three in a row. They are in 6th in the conference. They have inferior offensive players than the Rangers and has scored the same amount of goals while giving up less.

There's still not one aspect of the game where Boyle is better.

I don't get all this hate for Boyle or Asham.

Asham had a good game vs the devils. Had a couple nice hits and drew a penalty in the beginning of the game. I've been impressed by his skating and surprised by the chances he gotten on offense.

Boyle has been off this year but he's been decent on the penalty kill and isn't a defensive liability.

If anyone were to get hurt, the rangers don't really have depth to fill in and people would be begging for Boyle to come back if he got traded. All this wishing he'd be traded is ridiculous! HF at its finest

The Predators are 4-5 just like us. They got rewarded for losses and we didn't.

Interesting.

It's almost impossible to deviate very far from even on the Preds, they don't score and don't get scored on. There's probably not a team in the league where +/- means less.

Prust got 4 years/$10M from Montreal. Asham got 2 years/$2M. The Rangers could assign Asham to the AHL next season and take a $75,000 cap hit. 4 years is 4 years. Prust fired Newport Sports and hired Rich Winter who got him the $10M. Winter represents Asham too. Winter found a spot for Asham after Prust signed in Montreal.

Boyle being benched is a tactic IMO to get the top guys going. Seeing a guy who has somewhat of tenure and was part of the identity of the team last season be benched has to resonate through the room. This is about the top guys getting the message: they are next. Nash on the 3rd line? Another sign. Play well get promoted. Play poorly and move down. I'd rather it be Richards, but having Miller and Stepan as 1-2 tonight is scary. Might see it if Richards sucks tonight.

The Rangers are giving Miller a real good look playing with players who can play and not wasting him on the 4th line giving him 5 minutes. Miller comes up. Boyle plays less than 10 minutes. Torts calls out a group of players. Boyle is a healthy scratch. The Rangers brought up McDonagh and then traded Rozsival.

The Rangers traded a 3rd for Boyle when was basically an AHL player. He isn't worth than a 3rd after he established himself a legit NHL player? The Rangers would probably want a player in return. A defenseman. A younger cheaper forward.

So the goal here is for the Rangers to be the only team drafting in the 3rd round of this year's draft?

If this is just a kick in the butt benching which im hoping it is, then Richards is much more suited to be benched than Boyle

For many of us he was never a hero. Just a big bungling clod that played over his head from time to time. The effort is usually there; the execution rarely. Torts has protected this guy long enough as did Pruster. With #8 gone he is being exposed for the AHL player that he is. Get used to it.

I agree because to be benched you have to be playing and Boyle should never have been playing. Richards has been very lazy and although he is picking up points, there is no consistency. Halpern > Boyle. All we need to know now that we have other forward options.
