If Miller sticks I have to imagine Boyle gets traded. He is more valuable that way than a 4C depending on the return.

Doesn't seem Iikely at this point, however.

The minute our PK struggles, Boyle will be back in.

Torts scratches Pickle Stew and Boyle in the same game? Didn't see that coming.

i think by trading Rupp it shows Rangers want to get quicker up front.... especially trading for Powe.. i think a Boyle for some quick forward or a depth dman is in the works... Boyle doesnt really have value here anymore....

Yes we know. You've posted that message four times on the last two pages...

Faceoffs, PK, and playing a defensive role. Which he's good at.

Those things are not valuable.

The things that are valuable are:

- Goals
- Not falling down
- Fights (only if you win, or are small)
- Hits (again only smaller players)
- Smooth skating stride

oops lol sorry.. i just dont understand why people still think he is a good player... i wish the Rangers dealt him when his value was actually good. what team needs a player with size that is mainly useful on the PK and not good 5 on 5???

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed that both Brian Boyle and Matt Carkner aren't playing tonight. I'm a bloodthirsty animal, though.

Haha funny. Wish we would have dressed Scott after the Boyle debacle last year (going after both Carkner and Neil like an unleashed Kraken) :naughty: . But that was not to be... oh well

for a big guy, he falls down most of the time whenever he gets hit especially by the smaller forwards...and he is horrible at fighting for a guy that is 6'7. and he is very slow.. not that fast or a quick skater.

Again, we know.

People are reading too much into this. I don't like Boyle really, but this benching isn't a sign of the Rangers exploring the market for him. It's just a kick in the ass to get him going, nothing more.

Boyle's more valuable to the Rangers than to what they'd receive in a trade for him, I think.

Don't know if Boyle will be traded but looking at the system and with the Rangers seeing Miller as a C, his time with the Rangers is very short.

MDZ will have to find a new BFF soon.

I think they would get more than what the Rangers gave up for him.... he is overpaid for what he brings to the table....he would be a player to trade to get more cap space towards the deadline...

According to Capgeek, the Rangers would have $13,328,158 in cap space at the deadline. You must have big plans.

Rookie plays strong first career NHL game.

Organization immediately begins feverish shopping of reliable 3C.

On the other hand I do wonder where they draw the line between motivational benching and losing your spot in the lineup. If Miller continued to play very well and seemed to provide everything Boyle did plus better forechecking/play with the puck, at what point are you ready to go ahead and give Miller that job on a permanent basis?

JT Miller and Chris Kreider my friend. Would you rather sit them for Brian Boyle? FOH.

Rather sit Asham also. We are terrible on faceoffs and I know people don't like Boyle because he's not a scorer but he's an important piece to this team. He plays good defense, is a very good Pk'er and throws the body around (even though he sucks at fighting).

I understand completely. It's just that its amazing how quick everyone is to assume the movement of Boyle because some 19 year old kid had one good game. Should he build upon this consistently, then Boyle will see his last days in Manhattan.

I think he's overrated in both instances

Overrated in what he brings to the team.

Overrated in what some fans think he's worth on the market

The line is very fine. Management would not think twice about giving Miller a full time spot over Boyle if he's lighting the lamp.

Some people just have it. Miller has the talent and the mental makeup. He's a tough kid, and natural hockey player. Much more so than Kreider who will need some seasoning mentally, to get to the top of his game.

I am super excited to see more of J.T. Miller, and have been for a while.
