Today I have figured out how to rip VHS tapes into mp4/mkv files on my computer. It seems entirely pointless since "lol VHS" but I have two important goals with it:

1) my bootleg copy of Godzilla 1985 (recorded from a Blockbuster video rental when I was like 10) that has the english dub cut of the movie with the Raymond Burr inserts. To my knowledge that version of the movie has never been re-released on DVD (and it took forever to even get the international, non-Burr "Return of Godzilla" dub on DVD/blu-ray). I think it's the only prominent version of any of the movies that I don't have either a digital copy or disc of.

2) My childhood Star Wars original trilogy box set, pre-ANY-Lucas-tinkering. No added Jabba in A New Hope, no extra scenes of the Gungans celebrating in RotJ, Han shoots first, all of it just as it was originally before George decided he needed to muck with everything.

I also have a big stack of random tapes in a box that my parents found in their basement, some of which have my name on them. Might find some fun stuff I recorded off TV in there too.

I know Richard has pretty much a truck trailer full of equipment to get his sound but Paul just wants a simple rig. I love that contrast.

Your purchase back then pretty much convinced me to dig in and finally go Mesa. I vultured a local shop that was going out of business. The set was a consignment that was sitting for two years. I ogled it every time I went in for strings or a seasonal set up on my KH-602 (I don't mess with FR bridges). When I inquired, I was told the owner never contacted them back, so they let it go for $1800 cash. It's an absolute dream!

Ween is so damn underrated.
I hate FRs but so many of my guitars have them. Thankfully now I'm mostly a PRS guy so it's just Strat-style bridges now.

Is it just the three-channel? I was looking at those as well before I grabbed the TOV.

Ween is one of my favorite bands of all time, I have the Boognish tattooed on my right arm.

Yeah, I completely agree. I just wanted one Hammet model and this came at a good price. I'm a bender, not a wander

It's a 2-channel! Made in '94 and in beautiful shape. I know plenty like the 3-channel, but nostalgia is a powerful drug.

Man, that's love. Nothing more permanent \m/

Ween hasn’t been a favorite but I will admit that whenever I hear Buckingham Green start in, my knees go weak.

Oh yea, my Rec is about the same year, either 94 or 95. Excellent sounding amps. Less fizzy and a bit tighter than the later Recs. The orange channel especially sounds amazing on higher gain.

Seeing them play that live and seeing Deaner enveloped in fog for his solo is like seeing God.

I'm okay with this thread the way it's titled. I guess maybe I've been around long enough to know that in spite of it's title it's about "non-hockey" stuff. With that being said, it also keeps me thinking as I really am not familiar with most of the stuff you youngsters are talking about any more. Tony Dow's death though hit home...."Gee Beav"....

Title wasn't going to change.

I recall a headline some pundits/scientists believe that some older folks isolated and didn't get (as) sick the past few years, so we may have an increase in deaths this year. It has proved the case.

It's also that a number of Baby Boomers are "of a certain age" that they are dying more, and many became known through the years, so it's a lot of familiar names.

After avoiding it for 2.5 years, Covid finally got my family and I have to say that I'm not a fan and would not recommend.

Oh jeez, sorry to hear that!

My fam hasn't caught it yet (knock on wood). Having a baby kind of makes you paranoid. I haven't stepped foot into a store or restaurant since March of 2020. Thank goth for curbside pickups.

Hope you all get better soon!

I had it about a month ago for the first time and I would have to agree it sucked pretty bad.

No one warned me about the throat pain but it was easily the worst part for me.

I had it in January. Literally got it a couple days before my birthday.

Probably the most sick I've ever been. Had a fever of 103.7 at one point. Bed-ridden for 3-4 days straight. Not a lot of respiratory stuff other than a cough, but it basically felt like the worst f***ing flu I've ever had.

Would also not recommend.

My wife got it this week, she's had a rough week with it. I somehow didn't despite being everywhere she went all weekend and being in a car with her all Sunday.

Be careful with those home tests, she got three negatives before the hospital test confirmed it.

Thank you! We most likely got it from daycare after avoiding the previous outbreaks from there. Our 4 year old was going to get his first shot and tested positive the day before so pretty terrible with the timing there.

The throat pain was so bad that it would wake me up at night and the worst throat related pain I have ever been in. My Garmin shows that my RHR went up as well but seems to have started to come down so hopefully on the other side of this.

That all just sounds awful! I wonder if a nebulizer would help. September can't come soon enough for the Omicron variant boosters.

I have a 20 month-old who got his second shot yesterday. Now we have to wait eight weeks for his third shot since it's Pfizer (wife and I have Moderna).

I had it for the first time last week. If I didn’t test positive for Covid, I would have thought that I just had a normal cold. I wanted to go golfing but I did the right thing and stayed home.

Little bit TMI but for one night my mouth just started making a ton of excess saliva but swallowing hurt too much so I had to just sit up spitting into a bottle all night.

COVID sucks end of story.

@slocal one of my favorite bands (Drab Majesty) was doing an eBay auction for a bunch of stuff and I grabbed an Earthquaker Park Fuzz repro. This thing sounds amazing. Very old school octave-y fuzz but you can push it into a super heavy Muff-y fuzz.

I usually don't do a lot of pedal gain, but this thing might replace a lot of my lead tone.
