Obviously it's only one game, but if Hank only wants to re-sign if the Rangers are a competitive team, he has to compete himself. :help:

I think Boyle was dog-doo tonight.

Same for Pyatt and

Well, I'm getting close to cutting bait on Del Z. Step wasn't great... Nash was largely invisible. Our best line was easily Brass hobbit and pouliot.

Defense joining play fun to watch... Bad for score.

Flame away.

No flames. Agree 100 percent. Maybe 90 percent; I think the D joining the play is good. Didn't cost us any goals.

I know AV has a 'thing' for Pyatt but I still don't understand how any coach can justify playing a guy who has NEVER been more than a third liner and is now far enough into his career that he is a legitimate fringe NHLer over a guy who makes 7.8M and is expected to lead the team in scoring, annually. You want to throw Pyatt in front of the net on the 2nd PP and give him some extra minutes because he's your boy? Well, I don't like it, but fine. But why was his line on the ice every other whistle? Really baffles me a bit. Nash needed to be on the ice more, then perhaps he would have been more engaged. He had less than 10 minutes of ice time going into the third period. That's a joke.

And he was killing penalties. Why? He is so slow he makes Boyle look like Hagelin. He had 2 chances to clear the puck on the PK right before PHX's 2nd goal. Both times he fumbled with it and didn't get it out. Then he finally gets it out, but right to Smith so McD and G can't get off, which lead to the goal. Pyatt should be getting 4th line minutes and possibly a few 3rd line shifts here and there. No special teams for him.

Richards playing well was very refreshing to watch... I knew he had some gas left in the tank...

getting sick of Taylor Pyatt...

Boyle is meh...

our issue is we have two 4th lines... Boyle/pyatt/whoever is a ****ing worthless line... not even worthy to call it a 4th line... so that is very aggravating to watch...

I wish Boyle would just be a real, tough, annoying ass monster on the ice that would **** up everybody... otherwise he has a very limited number of assets as an NHL Player

is it me or did Nash look "hurt" after the hug/tugfest some call a fight ?

look like he sqiunted his eyes and shook his head a little, did he over sell it or was he hit ?

Looks like most Nash fights and giveaways out front are meaningless too haha

I'm oddly okay with the ass kicking we got tonight. Saw some good stuff in the system offensively (defensively is a different story), and I expect it to get better in general, and specifically with guys handling passes better as they get used to meaningful game speed. Also, Henrik is going to stop two of those four goals much more often than not, and all four five to ten times this year. No panic button. Yet.

Fell asleep in the second intermission. Had a very strong feeling that game would end 4-1. Weird.

From what I saw, the Rangers just looked way too scrambly. Like a team trying so hard to learn a system but not fully grasping it yet, ie. what we are.

I love how quick we come out of our own zone now, and the D just getting up the ice. There were a few 3 on 2s for us that I saw with a D-man as part of the three-man unit. Saw this specifically with the Brassard and Staal/DZ unit.

Thought Zuccarello looked good. Kid has another gear this season.

Anyway, those are the thoughts of someone who didn't see the third period. So, take lightly.

Rangers lose=Rangers played bad.

Rangers win=Rangers played well

Do you folks realize there is an opponent on the ice?

While Boye might be "meh" right now, but he step up his game in the play off, when it matters, something that can't be said about that many players on this team. He is fine as a 4th liner, which is what he'll be when Callahan/Hagelin is back.

I don't think it's going to be a very good year. Not just saying it to be doom and gloom, because I promised myself that I wouldn't do that this year. But I'm seeing things I've never seen before, with very little positives. Henrik looks absolutely awful. Horrendous, even.

McDavid is in 2015, better start now.

Stupid question maybe, but is this thread the replacement of the post game GDT?
And if so, does it at some point (where the game ends) go from being dry analysis to being what is used to be, were we can spill our guts?

Product is actually different now. Defensive efforts are gone and lack of finishing is even higher. There's actually less of a synergy going on.

This thread is going to replace the Post Game Thread. As far as your last question, I don't know. I do know that we're trying to discourage page after page of "XYZ Sucks!", "Trade ABC!" after a given loss. It made this place completely unvisitable after games last year for a lot of posters. So you can spill your guts as long as you don't use the thread as your personal stress ball. You can buy those at CVS.

Its one lousy game in a full 82 game season.

When did Staal become Mr. Offensive Defenseman scoring goals like that? He discussed doing more skating than usual over the summer than he had in previous summers. It shows. Even with Staal not having full vision in the right eye,he seems to be Staal.

The Rangers were very sloppy. They still don't know when to pressure the puck carrier in their zone. When they do pressure at the wrong time,it leaves other players open. That takes time. They played the exact opposite for 4 years.

AV used basically 3 forwards on the PK. Boyle,Pyatt and Moore. Pyatt?

Too bad the Rangers are off until Monday.
