Let's all be honest, that Lundqvist contract is f***ing atrocious and will no doubt be a major issue for this team through its conclusion. As long as the Canadian dollar continues to be weak as f*** and the cap doesn't get big gains from season to season, it will continue to be a major issue. Lundqvist has not played close to his salary, and I do feel like a guy 2/3 his price can play roughly at the same level, maybe a bit less.

I just hope things will get better.

Chytil looked outmuscled and a step behind out there. He's just a kid, no worries. Passing wise, we look like world beaters. Just not enough roofies over Varlamov. Chytil will probably go home. Fast comes back and we'll see the lines juggled.

Still have to give Chytil a chance to see if he can adjust and get up to speed. Not gonna even give him a fair shake if he only gets 6 minutes a night.

I fear when Chytil goes back that they’re gonna sign Desjardins who is horrible and go with Zib-Hayes-Desharnais-Desjardins and that’s horrible.

Hayes is a tall Erik Christensen. He's absolutely worthless if he doesn't score. One of the worst 200-foot players in the league.

You obviously haven't seen DD play much the last few years. even the team with the worst Center depth in the NHL wanted him gone at all costs and i watched more than half of the montreal games. And to say Chytil at 17 or 18 is better than Hayes right now is not fair.

the thing is, they also did quite a lot wrong in the playoffs, but in general it was overshadowed by Girardi, Staal and Holden.
Skjei looks like being a hell of a player, but he still has some very rough edges.
Smith I think can be a good bottom pair guy, but he's pretty limited. He looked good as a Ranger because he brought some snarl that no-one else did. He's pretty much a Kevin Klein type so you'll get some very up and down play from him

It's a 4 game sample and that's if you're counting preseason.

On the bright side of things, Desharnais looked really good. Carey was quiet but ok. Vesey was good, but just like last year tried to do a little too much.

Think if they simplify their game 5v5 it'll look a lot better
