It would be seriously great if the insanely hot Russian model living in my compound becomes best friends - with benefits - with my wife (and more importantly, me), but I'm not holding my breath.
Probably how Rangers fans should approach this... erm... proposal.

This, except I am a Jets fan.

Ehlers - Scheifele - Wheeler
Laine - Little - Stafford

Tell me where Zucc fits in that top 6.

Zucc >>> Stafford

Zucc is really really good.

Jets don't need this deal, Rangers don't trade Zucc unless they're ripping it all down.

So is this guy:

He also won't cost the Jets anything to add to their roster, and he doesn't need to be exposed in the expansion draft.

And if Trouba doesn't get what he wants, You don't think that he wouldn't demand a trade pretty sure both he and his agent would demand one.

Evander Kane reportedly asked for a trade every single offseason he was in Winnipeg. Players don't trade themselves ya know

And Trouba might say fine, I'm willing to hold out as long as i can. Try and get by without me he might say.:)

and the jets will say we made the playoffs 2 years ago with our top 5 dmen out for a month including you. if you want a fair contract lets talk if you want to extort us go play in the khl. when you come back you will still owe us 4 years.

And Chevy might say 'have fun paying your mortgage working at McDonalds'

The Jets will offer Trouba a market value (probably more than market value actually) contract. If he holds out for a couple extra bucks or to trade to force a trade he's only hurting his own bank account

Jets don't need to contend this year. If Trouba holds out for a year he will never get that $5+ million back.

He'll be traded if he really wants out, but holding out is going to cost him financially one way or another.

This goes for practically any player in the league, but if you're going to hold out to get more money, you're digging yourself a hole.

And before you say "he forces a trade to get his money from someone else", that might be the plan. There's just one thing. The other 29 teams in the league don't owe Trouba anything. It's Winnipeg who played him with Stuart and had two other quality RHDs. From literally any other team in the league, he's only getting what is fair value, if even that.

Holding out will only harm his financial situation: there's nothing to gain for him.

Yeah in reality i don't see him holding out. Just playing the Devils advocate here. Because he would be hurting himself in the long run for sure and doubt it would happen when he know has a mortgage that he must pay.

If for some reason he wanted to play elsewhere. I could see him honoring the rest of his obligation to the Jets. Like maybe sign a 4 year deal around $5.5 million per and then test UFA in a few years or so.

And what makes you think that kind of contract would ever be offered by the Jets?

Yeah pretty sure he wants his money, Still wouldn't shock me to see him get around 8 years at around $6 million per or something like that. Don't really know Lawless all that much and don't really care. Just sounded like the way he was talking that it was more or less on how he's being utilized is pretty much the sticking point here not so much how much he will get but how he's going to be used in the future going forward.

I don't know if the Jets would ever offer that, Pretty sure both are looking for long term deals. I'm just speculating that if Trouba was truly looking to get out after fulfilling his obligation to Winnipeg that maybe that's the kind of deal he would be seeking. Not necessarily going to happen though. Maybe the AAV comes in much less i don't know.

It takes two to tango. The Jets have absolutely zero motivation to sign him to a contract which takes him straight to UFA.

I agree with you on lawless he is a tool. think trouba gets a good fair contract. also think he gets more minutes then he will know what to do with. in his exit interview with the media last year he alluded to what bugged him about his usage. that was that he was asked to play ld 1 shift then rd the next shift for a lot of games last year. that is a lot to ask of a 21 year old. I'm sure he told the jets if you play me on the left side then no more going back and forth in game. and I don't blame him.

We have 2 character guys that may be the weakest link in Stuart, and then signed Strait for no logical reason. Hoping these guys get a poker game going in the PB, but I'm not holding my breath. The Jets fans will more than likely see Stuart on the ice often.

I expect a resolution for Trouba soon with September creeping up. Whatever happens, long term contract being the goal instead of a trade down the road. Either way, expect this story line to be wrapped up in the next 3 weeks.

Jets GM would probably hang up immediately and possibly block the Rangers number. This has no chance of ever happening, not even close... Not in the slightest. SHould probably do some research on the Jets, cuz the one thing they don't need are any more forwards, I mean, at least give the impression that you are taking both teams needs in to account.

You should probably do some research as well. You just talked a whole bunch of ****, but in the end, Zuccarello was tied with Scheifele with 61 pts which makes him tied for 2nd on Peg and 23 more points than the next highest wing on the team. He's a 100% energy guy with tons of skill who makes his linemates even better.

I'm not vouching for the deal but what you said, in the bold, was absolute nonsense. Zucc would become your 1st line LW and that line would be the ****. And you could also lighten up on the hyperbole a little.

He is also tiny, and doesn't fit at all into the age profile of the team they are constructing. They are building a stacked roster that will be filled with young/high draft picks. Here is their #1LW within the next year, a kid that led his men's pro team to a league title and followed that by being named the MVP of the men's World Hockey Championship as he turned 18:

Can't see the Jets throwing out their entire organizational plan to acquire Mats Zuccarello, and especially not at the cost of a 22 y/o RHD that fits perfectly into that plan.
