If Jets would trade Trouba for a center, I guess a good top-6 center with upside is what needs to come back. In that case Little can move to wing and we got our top-6 center sorted for years and we don´t need to wish that Jack R becomes 1.

I wouldn't trade him for ANY kind of non-elite forward.

I just cant see how the jets keep Buf Myers and Trouba. That's a lot of money on the right and hard to get everyone the minutes they want.

That's kinda like saying that Malkin is a #2C

Not at all, I didn't say Trouba was a 5-6D. I asked if they all played the right side, which they do. So wouldn't it be wise to trade one of the for a LD? Or you can spend over 15 million on RD.

I'm not a fan of the Jets but I would assume it's a beneficial move to make a trade just throwing a random proposal off the top of my head... Something like Trouba for Nurse and Yakupov

I repeat. You can't replace what Trouba brings to the team by trading him. Therefore, it's only logical to not trade him.

Offer us a 22 year old top pairing LHD, or don't bother.

lol that's awful.

You know that just because a player shots right doesn't mean he can't play the left side, right?

Trouba - Byfgulien was a pairing for a good part of the season, and they were very good together.

60 point wingers are mediocre now?

Standards in the NHL are rough these days

He'll be 29 in a few days, has 60 points once in his career (and 59 once). He's good, not elite.

for comparison, Bryan Little is the same age, and has .63 PPG over his career to Zuccarello's .67. Little is likely fairly considered a mediocre top 6 center.

Zucco is getting underrated here.

However I don't see a reason for Winnipeg to trade for him. Their winger depth looks really good for the future with Wheeler/Laine/Ehlers/Connor/Perreault all top-6 calibre wingers + others.

People need to calm down. I see the value being there as Zucc is a hell of a player. Just doesn't make sense for Winnipeg.

This. Klein isn't bad for a 3rd pair PK guy on any team. Zucarello would replace everything we lost in Frolik and he scores more.

I'd rather sign Trouba long term. But the second other teams found out if Trouba wanted out, a deal like this wouldn't even be on the table I don't think.

Fair offer, not the best fit for the Jets.

Having 3 Rd becomes a problem for Trouba when Myers gets Trouba's PP time and Chevy holds it against him come contract time.

Not that bad for the team but for Trouba it sucks

Jets say no to OP based on need.

If we want Trouba I'm guessing it either takes McD, which opens up a bigger hole than it fills.

Or some combo of Buch/Miller/Skjei which would suck.

Personally I'm more than happy rolling with Klein as our #1RD we shouldn't be making a desperation move to try and drastically improve the right side, removing Girardi by whatever means necessary and filling the spot with one of our recently signed cheap guys should be enough of an improvement.

Jets would get prime talent for Trouba even if he took out a full page ad begging for a trade. Teams would be lining up and competing with each other, and the Jets would get offers much better for them than Zuccarello.

As seen in the Larsson trade, young RD is arguably the most valuable commodity in the league. Zuc is a good player, but not nearly the talent needed to pry Trouba from WPG, whom I'm not even that high on.

What are the thought of Zuccarello and Klein for Trouba (with possible minor adjustments)?

Reasons the Rangers do it:

1. Need to reload for the future so should trade vets for youth while the vets are still in their 20s and at the top of their game.
2. Need an RD.

Reasons why the Jets do it:

1. Zuccarello is a legit first liner. Can play both wings.
2. Fan favorite: more Ranger fans wear Zucc jerseys than anyone except Lundqvist. No doubt Jets fans will love him.
3. Underpaid significantly for what he brings to the table.
4. Good all around, not just offensively. Despite being short, he's very strong and can win battles in the corners (for those concerned about it).
5. Still very much in his prime.
6. Jets have Big Buff and Tyler Myers on the RD.
7. Klein is a phenomenal third pair defenseman and a more than competent second pair defenseman. He would be a decent replacement on Trouba.
8. Klein is also significantly underpaid for what he brings.

bad trade for the jets

Jets don't need wingers and want LHD

LHD is the first need in WPG... does Ryan McDonagh play LD?

This guy is a LHD

This.

A young stud of a RD is not going to be traded unless he demands a trade.
